In this work, toothpaste tube squeezability was tested by three different methods: assessment by a human panel, a tactile glove, and several purely instrumental tests. The panelists characterized squeezability in terms of the acceptability of the product. We generate an alphabet of spatially multiplexed Laguerre-Gaussian beams carrying orbital angular momentum, which are demultiplexed at reception by a convolutional neural network (CNN). In this investigation, a methodology for optimizing alphabet design for best classification rates is proposed, and three 256-symbol alphabets are designed for performance evaluation in optical turbulence. The beams were propagated in three environments: through underwater optical turbulence generated by Rayleigh-Bénard (RB) convection ( 2≅10 ), through a simulated propagation path derived from the Nikishov spectrum ( 2≅10 ), and through optical turbulence from a thermal point source located in a water tank ( 2≅10 ).

Background: Several results support the hypothesis that a group of pathologies falling within the Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders (NMOSD) diagnostic criteria may coexist with Connective Tissue Diseases (CTD) in patients with a high susceptibility to autoimmune conditions. However, the relationship between NMOSD and rheumatologic diseases deserves further investigations to clarify all clinical aspects of this coexistence. The cross-sections of the Ti(p,x)Sc, Sc, Sc, Sc, Sc, and V nuclear reactions were measured from 18 to 70 MeV, with particular attention to Sc production. Enriched Ti powder was deposited on an aluminum backing and the obtained targets were characterized via elastic backscattering spectroscopy at the INFN-LNL. The realization of isotopically enriched Ti targets for nuclear cross-section measurements requires particular attention, from the starting material preparation up to the deposition technique. In this work, a cryomilling process was developed and optimized, aimed at reducing the size of Ti metal sponge as provided by the supplier (size up to 3 mm), to the optimal size of 10 µm, to fit the High Energy Vibrational Powder Plating technique used for target manufacturing. The optimization of the cryomilling protocol and the HIVIPP deposition using Ti material was thus performed.

According to Putnam (2000) and Bourdieu (1986), social disparities may result in the formation of narrow social bonds that exacerbate existing social cleavages and impede collective action. Motivated by this insight, we examine the relationship between social disparities and social distancing during the pre-vaccine Covid pandemic in the US. Using a panel of weekly, county-level observations, we find that income, educational and racial disparities are associated with a statistically significant decrease in the social distancing.
