Background: Prompt reperfusion is critical for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to improve outcomes. Yet, variability in regional healthcare delivery may influence treatment times and patient outcomes. We thus aimed at evaluating differences in management and outcomes of STEMI patients across Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, focusing on time-dependent reperfusion and in-hospital logistics.

The focus of our study is to examine the costs associated with ART from the perspective of the Italian NHS and to investigate in depth the contributing social and clinical factors.Using the healthcare informative system of Lombardy, a Region of Northern Italy, we gathered individual-level information for a cohort of women who experienced either spontaneous pregnancies or pregnancies following ART from 2007 until 2020.

Despite advances in recent years, functional characterization of mtDNA variants in cancer and their possible modulation of drug response remain largely uncharted.
Methods: Here, we characterized mtDNA variants in OC patient derived xenografts (PDX) and investigated their impact on cancer cells at multiple levels.
Background And Purpose: Identifying and assessing hemodynamic and flow status in patients with symptomatic internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion is crucial for evaluating recurrent stroke risk. The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between two quantitative imaging modalities: (1) blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) and (2) quantitative magnetic resonance angiography (qMRA) with non-invasive optimal vessel analysis (NOVA), measuring volume flow rate (VFR). Comparing these modalities is relevant for assessing collateral circulation and hemodynamic impairment.

Meanwhile, smartwatches offering ECG functionality have become widespread. This study evaluates the feasibility of an image-based ECG analysis artificial intelligence (AI) system with smartwatch-based multichannel, asynchronous ECG for diagnosing ACS.

They often undergo a pretreatment diagnostic iodine scan that typically shows areas of physiological uptake in the stomach, bladder, parotid glands as well as thyroid-remnant uptake and sites of metastatic disease. A 48-year-old woman with intermediate-risk papillary thyroid cancer with metastases to lateral compartment lymph nodes was found to have increased retention of iodine in the medial portion of her left orbit on the diagnostic scan.

However, the factors associated with poorer outcomes among AF patients in contemporary TAVR practice, particularly regarding mortality and heart failure (HF)-related hospitalizations, remain largely unknown.
Methods: Multicenter study including consecutive patients with a history of AF, evaluating the clinical outcomes and predictors of mortality, and HF-related hospitalization, who underwent TAVR with newer-generation devices using balloon or self-expandable valves.
Background: Over the past few decades, several studies have found that semen quality parameters have steadily declined over time. Many hypotheses have been made to explain this finding, among which a sedentary lifestyle has been investigated. To synthesize the current evidence, we performed a systematic review of published papers reporting on the relationship between sedentary habits and semen parameters.

Early stages detection is crucial for intervention. We aimed identifying early indexes of cardiac involvement and their eventual correlation with neurological indexes, in pre-symptomatic subjects with TTR gene mutation.

We examined the association of the overall plant-based diet index (PDI) and healthy (hPDI) and unhealthy plant-based diet indices (uPDI) with the risk of selected digestive cancers.
Methods: We used data from a network of hospital-based case-control studies including 942 oral/pharyngeal, 304 esophageal, 230 stomach, 1953 colorectal, and 326 pancreatic cancer cases.

A different host tropism has been described for these species where and are predominant species in fish and humans' infections, while in bovine.

We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of all patients (aged 3-18 years old) admitted during a three-month observation in our neurorehabilitation department. Data collected were as follows: demographic parameters; disability status (Wee-FIM Scale, Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and the Communication Function Classification System); and gastrointestinal and urological symptoms (diaries, Bristol scale, Pad Test and International Consultation on Incontinence Modular Questionnaire).

Our aim was to develop cultures of human hyalocytes and verify the retention of their initial cellular features after 3 and 6 days of culturing (3 d and 6 d) by analyzing and comparing a few morphological and functional parameters.
Methods: Vitreous samples (n = 22) were collected and vitreous cells and bead-enriched hyalocytes were developed and compared (3 d vs.
Background: A substantial number of patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) experience adverse events after TAVI, with health care expenditure. We aimed to investigate cardiac remodeling and long-term outcomes in diabetic patients with severe AS, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) < 50%, and extra-valvular cardiac damage (EVCD) undergoing TAVI treated with sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) versus other glucose-lowering strategies (no-SGLT2i users).
Methods: Multicenter international registry of consecutive diabetic patients with severe AS, LVEF < 50%, and EVCD undergoing TAVI.
The increasing number of trace organic contaminants (TrOCs) detected in anaerobically digested sludge (ADS) is triggering increasing concern on its circular-economy reuse practices. A large scientific effort has been performed to define their concentration limits, partition behaviour, and innovative technologies for their removal, which require the definition of versatile and economically sustainable analytical methodologies. In this study, a Soxhlet extraction method coupled with LC-MS/MS analysis was developed to simultaneously determine 32 TrOCs in ADS, 11 of them being quantified in this matrix for the first time.

Through the Scopus database, the scientific products of Italian ESS scientists associated with each keyword were identified. Subsequently, total and relative metric parameters from 2017 to 2022 were collected, including the total and relative number of citations.

In this retrospective study (2013-2023) conducted in tertiary hospitals in the bay of Naples (Italy), 50 older adults (median age, 69 years; range, 60-89) with advanced stage c-HL received frontline treatment with MVD ± irradiation. MVD consisted of 25 mg/m of NPLD along with standard Vinblastine and Dacarbazine for a total of 6 cycles (twelve iv administrations, every 2 weeks) followed by radiation of RNMs with size ≥ 2.
