Antecedents: Executive functions (EFs) are the basis for establishing a goal and working towards that goal by coordinating thoughts and actions. EFs are fundamental to several aspects of daily life, specifically for academic performance.
Aim: To analyse and compare the development of EFs in the transition period between the first and second cycles of early childhood education.
Background: This research can facilitate the development of early detection tools for ASD by identifying specific patterns of deficits in executive functioning, validating the use of the BRIEF-P as a detection tool, and complementing information obtained from other evaluation instruments (Autism Diagnostic Interview-ADI-and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-ADOS).
Aims: To gain knowledge of the application and usefulness of the BRIEF-P in the evaluation of executive functions (EFs) in people with ASD in the early years of the life cycle.
Method: In order to systematically examine this hypothesis, a meta-analysis was conducted to identify the executive profile (strengths and weaknesses) of children with ASD.
Background: ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is accompanied by executive challenges.
Objectives: To obtain evidence of the usefulness of the BRIEF-P and to analyze the possible ceiling and floor effect of its scores in the assessment of executive function in preschoolers with signs compatible with a possible diagnosis of ADHD.
Method: A search was performed in Science Direct, NCBI (PubMed), and ProQuest Education Journals during the period 2012-2022.
