Objective: We aimed to define indication of Hartmann procedure (HP) under emergency conditions, analyze, and present in which cases this procedure should be used.
Methods: The patients who underwent emergency surgery for colorectal cancer were analyzed. Rates of mortality, overall, and disease-free survival of the patients were evaluated.
Background/aim: SARS-CoV-2, a ribonucleic acid coronavirus, rapidly spread worldwide within a short timeframe. Although different antiviral, antiinflammatory, and immunomodulatory drugs are used, current evidence is insufficient as to which drug is more efficient. Our study compared favipiravir and lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/RTV) therapies in inpatient care for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia.

We report the case of a 52-year-old female diagnosed with Brugada syndrome (BrS) scheduled to undergo right total knee arthroplasty. General anaesthesia was induced and maintained with thiopental intravenous sodium + remifentanil and sevoflurane + remifentanil infusion, respectively. Rocuronium bromide was used as the muscle relaxant.

The aim of this study is to evaluate our preferred technique and comment on the midterm results of our clinical experience with palliative arterial switch operation (pASO) for a certain subset of patients.
Method: We hereby retrospectively evaluate the charts of patients who went through pASO, as initial palliation through Fontan pathway, starting from 2014 till today.

We studied the effect of di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on rat hair deposition of Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), and Zinc (Zn). Four groups, each of eight of female Wistar rats weighing 250-300 g, were randomly distributed to (1) control (corn oil-based diet), (2) DEHP 20 (20 mg DEHP per kg body weight (bw), (3) DEHP 100 (100mg DEHP kg/bw, and (4) DEHP 500 (500 mg DEHP kg/bw). The diets were fed daily for 14 days by gastric gavage before the rats were sacrificed.

Methods: Data for 103 preterm infants who underwent patent ductus arteriosus clipping through an anterior mini-thoracotomy at the 2nd intercostal space between 2009 and 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were divided into two groups according to their weight at the time of surgery.
The SARS-CoV-2 proteome shares regions of conservation with endemic human coronaviruses (CoVs), but it remains unknown to what extent these may be cross-recognized by the antibody response. Here, we study cross-reactivity using a highly multiplexed peptide assay (PepSeq) to generate an epitope-resolved view of IgG reactivity across all human CoVs in both COVID-19 convalescent and negative donors. PepSeq resolves epitopes across the SARS-CoV-2 Spike and Nucleocapsid proteins that are commonly targeted in convalescent donors, including several sites also recognized in some uninfected controls.

Methods: The randomised, prospective, double-blind and controlled study was conducted from October 2016 to January 2018 at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Biruni University, Istanbul, Turkey, and comprised individuals aged 18-30 years who underwent surgical removal of pathology-free completely unerrupted mandibular lower third molars. The participants were randomly assigned to four groups: Group I had saline-only controls, Group II was given 0.

Hemophagocytic syndrome (HS) is a syndromic complex that is categorized in the group of histiocytic disorders associated with macrophages. A 39-year-old male patient was admitted to the outpatient clinic with complaint of left flank pain. A 1 cm kidney stone was found in the upper pole of left kidney at radiologic imaging.

Loss of smell and taste occurring in COVID-19 cases are now recognized by the international scientific community as being among the main symptoms of the disease. This study investigates loss of smell and taste in outpatients and hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection.

Stereotactic body radiotherapy as a less invasive method has similar dosimetric results with HDR brachytherapy. This study aims to evaluate the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) response, acute side effects, and quality of life of patients who underwent stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) as a boost after pelvic radiotherapy (RT).

Methods: Between January 2014 and September 2018, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), anaplastic lymphoma receptor tyrosine kinase (ALK), and c-ros oncogene 1 receptor tyrosine kinase gene (ROS1) alterations, demographic characteristics, asbestos exposure, and asbestos-related radiological findings of 1904 patients with lung adenocarcinoma were recorded.
Results: The frequencies of EGFR mutations, ALK, and ROS1 rearrangements were 14.
Purpose: To analyze the vascular morphology changes after consumption of Ginkgo biloba in healthy volunteers by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: Sixty healthy volunteers without systemic and ocular disease were included in this prospective pilot study. After receiving the informed consent of the volunteers, Ginkgo biloba extract (120 mg oral capsule) was administered to sixty volunteers for 4 weeks, once a day in the morning.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore discharge prescription rates of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), defined as aggregate antiplatelet agent, statin, and ACE inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker use after endovascular lower extremity (LE) peripheral vascular intervention.
Background: Little is known about contemporary GDMT prescription following LE PVI.
Methods: Sex, age, and comorbid conditions were related to discharge GDMT prescription among patients undergoing LE PVI for symptomatic peripheral artery disease in the 2014-2018 Vascular Study Group of New England Vascular Quality Initiative.

We assessed how lipid metabolism during development from the C4 stage to adult is altered in response to predation risk and varying food availability, to ultimately understand more of the metabolic processes during development in Calanus copepods. We used RNA sequencing to assess if perceived predation risk in combination with varied food availability affects expression of genes associated with lipid metabolism and diapause preparation in C.

By polymer injection, the viscosity of the water injected for pressure support is increased by mixing with a high concentration of a polymer solution. Polymers used in EOR operations are often high molecular weight polyacrylamides, including anionic polyacrylamide (APAM), which may subsequently enter the marine environment with produced water releases.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate how gynecologic oncologists modified their patient management during Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) in Turkey.
Material And Methods: An online survey was sent to gynecologic oncology specialists and fellows in Turkey. It included management questions about strategies for newly diagnosed or recurrent endometrial, cervical, ovarian and vulvar cancer during the pandemic.
Background And Objectives: The purpose of this study was to find out the risk factors associated with non-sentinel lymph node metastasis and determine the incidence of non-sentinel lymph node metastasis according to risk groups in sentinel lymph node (SLN)-positive endometrial cancer patients.
Methods: Patients who underwent at least bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy after SLN mapping were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were categorized into low, intermediate, high-intermediate, and high-risk groups defined by ESMO-ESGO-ESTRO.
Inositol polyphosphates are vital metabolic and secondary messengers, involved in diverse cellular functions. Therefore, tight regulation of inositol polyphosphate metabolism is essential for proper cell physiology. Here, we describe an early-onset neurodegenerative syndrome caused by loss-of-function mutations in the multiple inositol-polyphosphate phosphatase 1 gene (MINPP1).
