Synthesis, Structural Investigations, DNA/BSA Interactions, Molecular Docking Studies, and Anticancer Activity of a New 1,4-Disubstituted 1,2,3-Triazole Derivative.

We report herein a new 1,2,3-triazole derivative, namely, 4-((1-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methoxy)-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde, which was synthesized by copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC). The structure of the compound was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), H NMR, C NMR, UV-vis, and elemental analyses. Moreover, X-ray crystallography studies demonstrated that the compound adapted a monoclinic crystal system with the 2/ space group.

Mistletoe (Viscum album L.) extract attenuates ıtraconazole-ınduced acute oxidative stress and hepatocellular ınjury in rats.

In the current study, the protective effect of a mistletoe extract (Helixor®, HLX) on Itraconazole (ITZ)-induced hepatocellular injury and acute oxidative stress in rats was aimed to be investigated by histological, biochemical and comet assay methods. Four groups a control group, an HLX group (5mg/kg/14days/intraperitoneally (ip)), an ITZ group (100mg/kg/14days/oral) and an HLX plus ITZ group (5mg/kg/14days/ip+100mg/kg/14days/oral) were all created from 32 female Wistar albino rats. At the end of the experiment, AST and ALT liver enzymes, total oxidant status (TOS) levels and total antioxidant status (TAS) levels, histopathological analysis and comet assay were carried out.

Background/aims: SIRT1 gene overexpression is reportedly associated with cancer development, via the triggering of DNA repair impairment, and cell proliferation. The study aimed to investigate SIRT1 expression in patients with gastric cancer and its correlations with the clinical and pathological characteristics of the disease.

Materials And Methods: All patients (64 patients) who underwent gastric biopsy and were diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma and signet ring cell carcinoma between January 2011 and December 2013 were enrolled in the study, and patients with benign gastric biopsy were enrolled in the control group (34 patients).

Background: In breast cancers, calcium signaling is a main cause of proliferation and apoptosis of breast cancer cells. Although previous studies have implicated the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) cation channel, the synergistic inhibition effects of selenium (Se) and cisplatin in cancer and the suppression of ongoing apoptosis have not yet been investigated in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. This study investigates the anticancer properties of Se through TRPV1 channel activity in MCF-7 breast cancer cell line cultures when given alone or in combination with cisplatin.

The exact mechanism is not fully understood; however, it has been proposed that estrogen receptors and aromatase enzyme activity may play important roles in the pathogenesis of gynecomastia. While many studies have reported that aromatase enzyme (CYP19) gene polymorphism is associated with gynecomastia, only one study has shown a relationship between estrogen receptor (ER) alpha and beta gene polymorphism and gynecomastia.

Genetic variants of synaptic vesicle and presynaptic plasma membrane proteins in idiopathic generalized epilepsy.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyze the role of the genetic variants of two synaptic vesicle proteins (VAMP2 and Synaptotagmin XI) and two presynaptic plasma membrane proteins (Syntaxin 1A and SNAP-25) in patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE).

Method: Eighty-five patients with IGE and 93 healthy subjects were included in the study. We analyzed the functional polymorphisms of VAMP2, Synaptotagmin XI, Syntaxin 1A and SNAP-25 genes with polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism methods.
