We study the entanglement harvesting between two identical buckled honeycomb lattices placed inside a planar microcavity. By applying time dependent perturbation theory, we obtain quantum correlations between both layers induced by the cavity field. Considering the vacuum state as the initial state of the cavity field and tracing out the time-evolved degrees of freedom, we analyze the entanglement formation using the concurrence measure.

Context: DNA mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency (dMMR) testing is now recommended in endometrial cancer. Defect identification in the molecules participating in this pathway, or the presence of microsatellite instability, are commonly employed for this purpose. Novel methods are continuously evolving to report dMMR/microsatellite instability and to easily perform routine diagnoses.

Article Synopsis
  • Angiosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that arises from the cells lining blood vessels, and current treatments for it are not very effective, making the search for new therapies important.
  • Researchers developed and studied cell line models in both 2D and 3D cultures to understand how the cancer cells grow and spread, proving these models useful for research in angiosarcoma.
  • A drug screening identified 8-amino adenosine as a promising candidate, showing effectiveness in reducing cell growth and invasion at low doses, but it didn't work better in combination with established cancer drugs like paclitaxel or gemcitabine.

Terpenoids are essential for plant growth, development, defense, and adaptation mechanisms. Psidium cattleyanum (Myrtaceae) is a fleshy fruit tree species endemics from Atlantic Forest, known for its pleasant fragrance and sweet taste, attributed to terpenoids in its leaves and fruits. In this study, we conducted genome-wide identification, evolutionary and expression analyses of the terpene synthase gene (TPS) family in P.

We study the frictional drag between two graphene layers placed inside a cavity. We show that the drag has two contributions: the well-known Coulomb drag, and a novel photon-mediated drag. The latter arises from a cavity-mediated interaction in which the backscattering is not suppressed and the screening is relatively weak.

We analyze the entanglement generation of a system composed of two decoupled rotated graphene layers inside a planar microcavity. By considering the electromagnetic field of the cavity in the vacuum state and using time-dependent perturbation theory it is possible to obtain the range of geometric parameters at which the quantum states of electrons in different layers are entangled. By employing the negativity measure, correlations between layers are obtained for time scales smaller than the light-crossing time of the layers.

It is well known that the confinement of matter inside a microcavity can significantly enhance the light-matter interactions. As a result the vacuum fluctuations, induced by virtual photons, can occur in a volume much lower than the free-space diffraction limit. In this work we show that, for a single doped graphene plane inside a microcavity, these enhanced vacuum interactions can produce a significant reduction in the Fermi velocity of the electrons.

Soot temperature measurements in laminar flames are often performed through two-color broadband emission pyrometry (BEMI) or modulated absorption/emission (BMAE) techniques, using models to relate the ratio between flame intensities at two different wavelengths with soot temperature. To benefit from wider spectral range and increase the accuracy of experimental estimation of soot temperature, this work proposes a new approach that uses three-color broadband images captured with a basic color camera. The methodology is first validated through simulations using numerically generated flames from the CoFlame code and then used to retrieve soot temperature in an experimental campaign.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a significant global health problem, with Helicobacter pylori infection estimated to be responsible for 89% of non-cardiac GC cases, or 78% of all GC cases. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has called for Helicobacter pylori test-and-treat strategies in countries with high rates of GC. However, for countries with low rates of GC, such as most Western countries, the balance between benefits, harms and costs of screening is less clear-cut.

We study the electronic heat capacity in doped graphene under magnetic fields. The partition function is calculated considering only the thermal excitations in the last occupied energy levels. Due to the large energy separation between the Landau levels (LLs) and the Zeeman splitting, at low temperatures the heat capacity is dominated by the spin excitations in the last occupied LL.

Background: The diagnostic yield of 24-hour ECG Holter monitoring (24H) is currently overcome by alternative ECG monitoring techniquesand it needs to be optimized. The recognition of inter-atrial block (IAB) has emerged as a reliable indicator of patients at risk of atrial fibrillation relapses, and its role enhancing the yield of 24H is yet to be determined. We hypothesized that a presumably low yield of 24H may be ameliorated by means of incorporating the assessment for IAB.

We study the magnetic oscillations (MO) in 2D materials with a buckled honeycomb lattice, considering a perpendicular electric and magnetic field. At zero temperature the MO consist of the sum of four sawtooth oscillations, with two unique frequencies and phases. The values of these frequencies depend on the Fermi energy and electric field, which in turn determine the condition for a beating phenomenon in the MO.
