- The study analyzed 16 research articles, including one randomized controlled trial, and found that infants who were breastfed (Any-BF) had better long-term cognitive outcomes and a lower risk of neurodevelopmental impairments compared to those who never breastfed (Never-BF).
- However, results regarding motor development were inconclusive, and there was no clear evidence showing that exclusive breastfeeding or donor breast milk provided better neurodevelopmental benefits than formula feeding for preterm infants.
Introduction: Necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) of the intestine of preterm infants leads to the risk of abdominal surgery, short bowel syndrome, neurodevelopmental disorders and death. Although the risks of NEC and its complications have been recognised in many countries, few countries have established NEC-specific registries to continuously monitor its aetiology and prognosis. In China, the understanding of risk factors and prognosis of NEC is incomplete, characterised by a lack of evidence from prospective and multicentre studies.

Objectives: To investigate the incidence rate, clinical characteristics, and prognosis of neonatal stroke in Shenzhen, China.
Methods: Led by Shenzhen Children's Hospital, the Shenzhen Neonatal Data Collaboration Network organized 21 institutions to collect 36 cases of neonatal stroke from January 2020 to December 2022. The incidence, clinical characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of neonatal stroke in Shenzhen were analyzed.
