In imaging of Yttrium-90 patients treated hepatic primary and metastatic cancers, bremsstrahlung photons produced in a wide energy range is used. However, the image quality depends on acquisition energy window. This research aimed energy window optimization for Yttrium-90 bremsstrahlung imaging and 48 patients with various types of cancer received radioembolization therapy were investigated.

Yttrium-90 images were acquired with a dual-head gamma camera, equipped with parallel hole collimators and Y vial for different energy windows ranging from 56 to 232 keV. Image quality parameters (sensitivity, %FOV, and S/B) were examined for the energy window and collimator combinations.

Aim: To examine theeffects on the brain of 2-month treatment withamethylphenidate extended-release formulation (OROS-MPH) using [Tc-] TRODAT-1SPECT in a sample of treatment-naïve adolescents with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In addition, to assess whether risk alleles (homozygosity for 10-repeat allele at the DAT1 gene were associated with alterations in striatal DAT availability.
Methods: Twenty adolescents with ADHD underwent brain single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scans with [Tc-] TRODAT-1 at baseline and two months after starting OROS-MPH treatment with dosages up to 1 mg/kg/day.

Objective: The behavior of beta particles under the magnetic field was investigated both theoretically and experimentally based on the assumption of reducing the damage to the normal tissues created by using magnetic field in radionuclide therapy.
Methods: A water-filled spherical medium and a beta particle source was formed by using Geant4 simulation software for the theoretical study. After applying a homogenous magnetic field, the volume of points at which the particles interact with the medium was calculated by determining particle range.

Objective: Detection/localization of infection and inflammation is important for the initiation of correct treatment as well as its maintenance. Nuclear medicine imaging methods play an important role in determining infection and inflammation. F-2'-deoxy-2-fluoro-d-glucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is highly sensitive in such cases when used with tomographic cross-sections.

Objective: Gastrointestinal motility and functional motility disorders causing either delayed or accelerated gastric emptying (GE) may result in similar symptoms including nausea, vomiting, early satiety, fullness, bloating, and abdominal discomfort or pain. Hence, it is important to evaluate patients for both rapid and delayed GE in the same test. The gold standard technique to measure GE is scintigraphy by radiolabeled test meals.

First of all, D-PA-glucuronide (D-PA-Glu) was synthesized by experimental treatments starting with uridine 5'-diphospho-glucuronosyltransferase enzyme rich microsome preparate. Then, the synthesized compound was labeled with technetium ((99m)Tc) by using a reduction method with stannous chloride.

Material And Methods: Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups of six animals each. 1) Control (saline; 5 ml/kg intraperitoneally); 2) L-carnitine (CAR; 300 mg/kg intraperitoneally); 3) Amifostine (AMI; 200 mg /kg intraperitoneally); 4) Cisplatin (CIS;7 mg/kg intraperitoneally); 5) Cisplatin plus L-carnitine (CIS + CAR); 6) Cisplatin plus amifostine (CIS + AMI).
8-Hydroxyquinoline (8-OHQ) is a long-known molecule which due to its metal-complexation ability is frequently used for analysis. It is also called oxine. Oxine and derivatives have been investigated to process antitumor and antimicrobial activities.

Cisplatin is a cell-cycle nonspecific antineoplastic agent used in some chemotherapy regimens. Knowing that platinum reacts with phosphate compounds such as methylenediphosphonic acid (MDP), decreases bone resorption and new bone formation, it can be proposed that cisplatin chemotherapy may decrease Tc-99m MDP bone uptake.

A peptide glucuronide (Exorphin C glucuronide) was labeled with 99mTc using glucoheptonate (GH) as a bifunctional chelating agent. Scintigraphic imaging was performed in male Albino rabbits. Exorphin C glucuronide showed rapid and efficient labeling with 99mTc using glucoheptonate as a bifunctional chelate.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmiodarone (AD)-induced pulmonary toxicity is one of the major complications of long-term AD therapy. Technetium-99m-labeled D: ,L: -hexamethylpropylene amine oxime (Tc-99m HMPAO) scintigraphy has been used to assess lung injury. We designed this study to clarify lung uptake changes of Tc-99m HMPAO using low doses of AD (5 mg/kg/day) during long-term therapy in a rabbit model.

An estrogen derivative, beta-estradiol (1,3,5,[10]-estratriene-3,17beta-diol) attached to diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) was synthesized in six steps. At the end of these steps a compound of estradiol and DTPA derivative called deoxy demethyl homoestradiolyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (ESTDTPA) was synthesized.

Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 6): 1) Saline (control); 2) Doxorubicin (DOX; 10 mg/ kg(-l) intraperitoneally); 3) Amifostine (AMI; 200 mg/kg(-1) intraperitoneally); 4) Doxorubicin plus amifostine (DOX + AMI). Amifostine was injected 30 minutes before doxorubicin in Group 4.

We investigated the Tc-99m-HMPAO uptake of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cells in the lungs after incubation in in vitro conditions (6 patients), intravenous injection (IV) (7 patients) and inhalation (INH) (6 patients) of Tc-99m-HMPAO in order to show whether BAL cells are also responsible for Tc-99m-HMPAO uptake in the lungs. Cell/supernatant (C/S) count ratio was 7.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the amount of amiodarone intake (and the related development of lung toxicity) and the lung uptake of technetium-99m labelled D,L-hexamethylpropylene amine oxime (HMPAO). Eighteen white female New Zealand rabbits were divided into three groups and fed AD by gavage at doses of 10 (group A), 50 (group B) or 150 (group C) mg/kg daily.

99Tcm-labelled erythromycin lactobionate (99Tcm-EL) was used as a radioaerosol for lung ventilation imaging in humans after animal studies had shown slow clearance of 99Tcm-EL from the alveolar spaces. We performed inhalation studies in 26 volunteers: 11 non-smokers, 13 smokers (3 of whom smoked one cigarette just before inhalation of 99Tcm-EL) and 2 patients with pulmonary emboli (PE). The PE patients were imaged by both 99Tcm-EL and xenon-133 (133Xe) for comparison.
