Liquid-Liquid Extraction Solvent Selection for Comparing Illegal Drugs in Whole Blood and Dried Blood Spot with LC-MS/MS.

Aim: This study focused on the simultaneous detection of amphetamine, 3,4-methyl enedioxy methamphetamine, morphine, benzoylecgonine, and 11-nor-9-carboxy- tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC-COOH) in whole blood and DBS. It is aimed to select a solvent mixture for liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) technique employing LC-MS/MS. The obtained DBS results were compared with the whole blood samples results.

Development of analytical method for illegal substances in sweat and comparison of the effectiveness of sweat collection materials.

Purpose: Sweat analysis can yield valuable information in forensic investigations, diagnosis and treatment. The purpose of this study was to develop a validated gas chromatography-mass spectrometric method for the detection of illegal substances in sweat after optimizing the method by chemometric approach. This study also investigated the effectiveness of alternative sweat-collecting materials.

Determination of UV Filters in Waste Sludge Using QuEChERS Method Followed by In-Port Derivatization Coupled with GC-MS/MS.

UV filters (UVFs) are widely used in personal care and in industrial products for protection against photodegradation. In recent years, their potential toxicological and environmental effects have received growing attention. Due to their excessive use, their residue levels in the environment are gradually increasing and they tend to accumulate on biological wastewater treatment sludge.

Turkish Validity and Reliability Study of Challenge-Hindrance Demands Scale for the Nursing Profession.

This study aims to adapt "the Challenge-Hindrance Demands Scale for Nursing Professional" developed by Mahaverachartkul and Sooraksa; regarding "how nurses who are under heavy workload and stress as well as intense and tiring working hours perceive many stressful situations in the working environment as challenges or hindrances" to Turkish language and bring it to the use of national literature. In terms of method, the research was designed within the scope of the quantitative research model. Data collected from 450 nurses were used in this study.

Hyperprogression and hypercalcemia after nivolumab treatment in three cases with renal cell carcinoma.

Introduction: Hyperprogression is a specific type of response seen with immunotherapy that is observed in all malignancies with a frequency of 9% - 29%, characterized by a rapid increase in tumor burden. Many possible related factors and possible markers have been evaluated but a clinical or laboratory parameter associated with hyperprogression has not yet been established. For renal cell carcinoma, hypercalcemia is known to be a poor prognostic factor but it has not been linked to hyperprogression.

Cognitive Facilitation and Antioxidant Effects of an Essential Oil Mix on Scopolamine-Induced Amnesia in Rats: Molecular Modeling of In Vitro and In Vivo Approaches.

The present study investigated the capability of an essential oil mix (MO: 1% and 3%) in ameliorating amnesia and brain oxidative stress in a rat model of scopolamine (Sco) and tried to explore the underlying mechanism. The MO was administered by inhalation to rats once daily for 21 days, while Sco (0.7 mg/kg) treatment was delivered 30 min before behavioral tests.

Comparison of different classification algorithms to identify geographic origins of olive oils.

Research on investigation and determination of geographic origins of olive oils is increased by consumers' demand to authenticated olive oils. Classification algorithms which are machine learning methods can be employed for the authentication of olive oils. In this study, different classification algorithms were evaluated to reveal the most accurate one for authentication of Turkish olive oils.

Existing anti-angiogenic therapeutic strategies for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer progressing following first-line bevacizumab-based therapy.

Continuous inhibition of angiogenesis beyond progression is an emerging treatment concept in the management of metastatic colorectal cancer patients with prior bevacizumab exposure. Treatment options include the continuation or reintroduction of bevacizumab during the second-line chemotherapy or switching to a different antiangiogenic monoclonal antibody such as aflibercept or ramucirumab. In the selection of treatment, patient-based factors such as performance status, age, tumor burden, and tolerance and sensitivity to the first-line bevacizumab-based therapy, as well as treatment-related factors such as toxicity, efficacy, and cost, should be taken into consideration.

Dual HER2 inhibition strategies in the management of treatment-refractory metastatic colorectal cancer: History and status.

Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) signaling pathway activation has been identified as a contributor to de novo or acquired resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors in a small subset of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Dual anti-HER2-targeted treatment exhibits strong antitumor activity in preclinical models of HER2-positive mCRC, supporting its testing in clinical trials. The HERACLES trial at four Italian academic cancer centers has confirmed the effectiveness of dual blockage of HER2 with trastuzumab plus lapatinib in patients with heavily pretreated HER2-positive mCRC, refractory to the anti-EGFR antibodies cetuximab or panitumumab.

Shattering the castle walls: Anti-stromal therapy for pancreatic cancer.

Despite the availability of potent chemotherapy regimens, such as 5-fluorouracil, folinic acid, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin (FOLFIRINOX) and nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine, treatment outcomes in metastatic pancreatic cancer (PC) remain unsatisfactory. The presence of an abundant fibrous stroma in PC is considered a crucial factor for its unfavorable condition. Apparently, stroma acts as a physical barrier to restrict intratumoral cytotoxic drug penetration and creates a hypoxic environment that reduces the efficacy of radiotherapy.

Evaluation of relationship between endodontic access cavity types and secondary mesiobuccal canal detection.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between Endodontic Access Cavity (EAC) types with MB2 canal detection ratio in the upper first molars.

Methods: A total of 60 roots of extracted human maxillary first molars were selected. All teeth were prepared with Point EAC (PEAC), Conservative EAC (CEAC) and Traditional EAC (TEAC) respectively.

Platinum-induced neurotoxicity: A review of possible mechanisms.

Patients treated with platinum-based chemotherapy frequently experience neurotoxic symptoms, which may lead to premature discontinuation of therapy. Despite discontinuation of platinum drugs, these symptoms can persist over a long period of time. Cisplatin and oxaliplatin, among all platinum drugs, have significant neurotoxic potential.

Dental pulp stone formation during orthodontic treatment: A retrospective clinical follow-up study.

Objective: The aim of this study was two-fold: (1) To assess the incidence of dental pulp stone formation during orthodontic treatment, and (2) to determine the correlations between the presence of dental pulp stones and age, gender, and dental arches.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 545 patients (334 girls and 211 boys, age range; 12-22 years) who had undergone nonextraction orthodontic treatment were included in this study. 8442 teeth (T1) and 8410 teeth (T2), including the first and second maxillary and mandibular premolars and molars were evaluated from the pre- (T1) and post-treatment (T2) panoramic radiographs of the patients.

Evaluation of the Cyclic Fatigue and Torsional Resistance of Novel Nickel-Titanium Rotary Files with Various Alloy Properties.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cyclic fatigue and torsional resistance of Hyflex EDM, ProTaper Gold (PTG), and ProTaper Universal (PTU) instruments.

Methods: For the cyclic fatigue test, 10 instruments from each group were tested by using a stainless steel block with 1.5-mm diameter and 3-mm radius of 60° angle of curvature.

Comparative evaluation of cyclic fatigue resistance of four different nickel-titanium rotary files with different cross-sectional designs and alloy properties.

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the cyclic fatigue resistance of F6 SkyTaper (Komet Brasseler, Lemgo, Germany), K3XF (SybronEndo, Orange, CA, USA), new generation OneShape (Micro Mega, Besancon, France) and TRUShape 3D conforming files (Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties, Tulsa, OK, USA).

Material And Methods: Ten instruments from each group were selected and allowed to rotate using a low-torque motor in a stainless steel block with 1.5 mm diameter, 3 mm radius of 60° angle of curvature at the manufacturer's recommended speed, and the number of cycles (NCF) from the beginning to the fracture was recorded.

Comparison of the effect of MTAD and conventional irrigation agents on apical leakage and push-out bond strength of root canal filling.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of MTAD (a mixture of tetracycline isomer, an acid, and a detergent) and conventional irrigation agents on the apical leakage and push-out bond strength of root canal filling and to correlate the apical leakage and push-out bond strength. Root canals of 120 maxillary central incisors were prepared with a ProTaper file up to F3 and distributed to six groups. Saline, 1% NaOCl, 17% EDTA, 17% EDTA/1% NaOCl, and 2% chlorhexidine (CHX) solutions were used between each file change, and 5 mL of the same irrigating solution was used for the final flush.

Cyclic fatigue analysis of Reciproc R25® instruments with different kinematics.

This study aimed to compare the cyclic fatigue resistance of Reciproc® instruments when used with different kinematics (150° counterclockwise (CCW)-30° clockwise (CW), 270° CCW-30° CW, 360° CCW-30° CW and continuous rotation). Various kinematics were tested in steel canals with a 3 mm radius and a 60° angle of curvature as follows (n = 20): 150° CCW-30° CW, 270° CCW-30° CW, 360° CCW-30° CW and 360° CCW (rotary motion). Reciproc R25® instruments were used until fracture occurred.

An in vitro analysis of separation of multi-use ProTaper Universal and ProTaper Next instruments in extracted mandibular molar teeth.

This study investigated the separation incidence of reused ProTaper Universal and ProTaper Next rotary instruments and identified the location of separated fragments. The root canals of extracted human mandibular molars were prepared with 10 assorted sets of ProTaper Universal and ProTaper Next instruments. After each preparation, instrument sets were autoclaved.

A Radiographic Correlation between Renal and Pulp Stones.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between pulp stones and renal stones. This study also aims to report associations between the presence of pulp stone and gender, age, tooth type, dental arches and sides.

This report comprises the novel usage of polythiophene - ionic liquid modified clay surfaces for solid phase microextraction (SPME) fiber production to improve the analysis of pesticides in fruit juice samples. Montmorillonite (Mmt) clay intercalated with ionic liquids (IL) was co-deposited with polythiophene (PTh) polymer coated electrochemically on an SPME fiber. The surface of the fibers were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
