In the present study, green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (VNE-AgNPs) via Verbascum nudatum extract was carried out for the first time. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by different spectral methods such as UV-vis, FTIR, XRD, TEM, and EDAX. According to TEM analyses, the average size range of AgNPs was 17-21 nm, and the dominant peaks in the 111°, 200°, 221°, and 311° planes in the XRD pattern indicated the Ag-NPs FCC crystal structure.

In this study, we compared the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of quercetin and ascorbic acid using a sepsis model induced in infant rats.
Methods: A total of 28 infant rats 21-days-old that had just completed the lactation period were divided into four groups: control, sepsis, sepsis + quercetin, and sepsis + ascorbic acid.
Introduction: Herein, we analyzed the histopathological, oncological and functional outcomes of testis-sparing surgery (TSS) in patients with distinct risk for testicular cancer.
Methods: This is a multicenter retrospective study on consecutive patients who underwent TSS. Patients were categorized in high- or low-risk testicular germ cell tumor (TGCT) according to the presence/absence of features compatible with testicular dysgenesis syndrome.

Objective: We investigated the relationship between paravertebral muscle cross-sectional area (PVM CSA) at the third vertebra (C3) level using computerized tomography (CT) neck images and its relationship with complications after total laryngectomy.
Design: Retrospective analysis of 60 advanced laryngeal cancer patients who underwent total laryngectomy was performed. The cross-sectional areas of paravertebral neck muscles using neck CT at C3 level images obtained preoperatively were analyzed.
Introduction: Although the red cell distribution width has been reported as a reliable predictor of prognosis in several types of cancer, to our knowledge few reports have focused on the prognostic value of red cell distribution width in laryngeal carcinoma.
Objective: We aimed to explore whether the pretreatment red cell distribution width predicted recurrence in laryngeal cancer patients is a simple, reproducible, and inexpensive prognostic biomarker.
Methods: All laryngeal cancer patients who underwent curative surgery (n=132) over a 7 year study period were evaluated.
Cystitis is defined as an inflammation of the bladder caused by a bacterial infection, and it can be dangerous and painful when it spreads through the internal organs. In this study, antioxidant effects of hydroxylfasudil (HF) at the enzymatic and molecular level on kidney and liver tissues in cystitis rat model, which is caused by inflammation of the rat bladder with a protamine sulphate (PS), was examined. Quantitative changes of reduced glutathione (GSH) and lipid peroxidation (LPO) levels, which are a marker for oxidative stress, were determined in rat kidney and liver tissues for each groups.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients in Turkey and to study related factors.
Methods: This multicenter study was carried out between January 01 and April 15, 2015 in Turkey in 57 centers. Adults were enrolled and studied in three groups.
Objective: To analyze health-related cost of heart failure (HF) and to evaluate health-related source utilization aiming to provide data on the economic burden of HF in actual clinical practice in Turkey.
Methods: The study used the Delphi process of seeking expert consensus of opinion including 11 cardiologists who are experienced in HF. The standardized questionnaire comprised items to reflect the opinion of the expert panelists on the distribution of the HF patients in terms of demographic and clinical characteristics and background disease states.
Predictive factors for survival following liver metastasis in endometrial cancer (EC) have not been studied to date. It is expected that patients who initially presented with liver metastasis or developed liver metastasis as the subsequent metastatic site of progressive disease are likely to have poor outcomes. However, patients developing liver metastasis as the first site of recurrence may have a chance of benefiting from the salvage therapies.

Methods: Clinical records of patients with high-grade serous carcinoma who underwent primary surgery between 2007 and 2012 were reviewed retrospectively. Patients were reclassified according to the FIGO2013 criteria.
Objectives: The objective of the present study was to evaluate anti-inflammatory effects of hydroxyfasudil in a protamine sulfate (PS) induced cystitis rat model. Additionally, we investigated prevention of bladder overactivity (BO), and tissue damage in these experiments.
Methods: Animals were divided into four groups.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs), erectile dysfunction (ED) and symptomatic late-onset hypogonadism (SLOH) in ageing men in the Aegean region of Turkey. Five hundred consecutive patients >40 years old who had been in a steady sexual relationship for the past 6 months and were admitted to one of six urology clinics were included in the study. Serum prostate-specific antigen and testosterone levels and urinary flow rates were measured.

All compounds were evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity by determining their ability to provide protection against carregeenan-induced edema in rat paw. In addition, ulcerogenic activity was determined.

We examined the effect of carvedilol therapy on left atrial appendage functions in patients with symptomatic congestive heart failure.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Our goal in this study was to examine the changes in the left atrial functions over a period of 3 months by using left atrial volume measurements in patients with anterior myocardial infarction (MI).
Methods And Results: Seventy-three patients with anterior MI who consulted our hospital in the first 12 hours starting from the onset of the chest pain and who exhibited ST elevation were enrolled in the study. The left atrial functions of the patients were evaluated by transthoracic echocardiography for a total number of four times; first at the time of the visit to the hospital, then in the first week, and then in the first and third months.
Objective: We aimed to compare the effects of carvedilol and metoprolol succinate on left atrial (LA) function in patients with chronic heart failure.
Methods: Thirty three patients (6 females, 27 males) who had not received beta blocker treatment previously and whose left ventricular ejection fraction was below 40% were included in this study. LA volumes were measured echocardiographically just before the time of mitral valve opening (V (max)), onset of atrial systole (p-wave at the electrocardiography = V (p)) and mitral valve closure (V (min)) according to the biplane area length method at baseline and in the 3rd month after the administration of beta blockers.
Diffuse lipoblastomatosis is a rare lipomatous tumor of infancy that derives from fetal-embryonal fat. It usually affects infants and children and presents as a superficial mass that extends from the subcutis to the underlying muscle in the upper or lower extremities. In spite of its benign nature, the tumor may behave in a locally aggressive manner and invade the surrounding tissues.

Although cardiac catheterization is considered as the most accurate method in the evaluation of diastolic function, since it is invasive, noninvasive methods are preferred. This study was undertaken to examine whether mitral annular velocities assessed by pulsed tissue Doppler imaging (PTDI) were associated with invasive measures of diastolic LV pressure and whether additional information was gained over traditional transmitral and pulmonary venous flow velocity parameters.

Spontaneous coronary artery rupture is rarely seen and most of the reorted cases in the world literature are related to rupture of a coronary artery aneurysm or of a saphenous vein graft. There is no report in the literature of a patient with spontaneous coronary artery perforation due to disruption of coronary atherosclerotic plaque. We can confirm that our patient is the first to be successfully treated with intracoronary grafted stent implantation for spontaneous coronary artery perforation as a result of disruption of atherosclerotic plaque.
