Objective: To evaluate the international normalized ratio (INR) monitoring patterns in patients with deep vein thrombosis.
Methods: Of 32,012 patients with ≥1 outpatient INR measurement and 42,582 patients with confirmed deep vein thrombosis diagnosis registered to our hospital between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2013, 6720 records were identified to have both deep vein thrombosis and international normalized ratio measurement, and 4.377 out of 6.
Despite technological advances, the long-term outcomes of endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) are still debatable. Although most endograft failures after EVAR can be corrected with endovascular techniques, open conversion may still be required. A 70-year-old male patient presented at the emergency unit with abdominal pain.

Background: In the present study, we present our experience for surgical excision for cardiac masses and to analyze survival characteristics of these patients.
Methods: Between January 2004 and December 2015, a total of 131 patients (88 females, 43 males; mean age 49.4±16.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the validity of the Glasgow aneurysm score (GAS) and Hardman index in patients operated on because of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA), and determining preoperative risk factors that affect in-hospital mortality. One hundred one patients operated on to repair a rAAA within the last 10 years were included. The GAS and Hardman index were calculated for each patient separately.

Background: Increased experience and improvements in technology seem to have encouraged the use of percutaneous interventions for left main coronary artery (LMCA) occlusions. There is no consensus, however, and the data are inadequate on whether surgery or percutaneous procedures should be the intervention of choice for critical occlusions.
Methods: From January 2002 to December 2006, 108 patients with unprotected LMCA stenosis >80% were treated at our center.
The use of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in primary treatment of acute myocardial infarction is still debated. We evaluated the predictors of mortality in patients undergoing primary CABG for ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI). Between January 2003 and January 2008, all patients referred to our institution with STEMI who did not qualify for primary angioplasty and required CABG were included in this study.

Persistent sciatic artery and its traumatic aneurysm was diagnosed after medical examination followed by peripheric digital substraction angiography. Surgery was performed under general anesthesia, and the patient was discharged from the hospital on postoperative day 7 without any problems.

We studied the relationship between the protective effect of melatonin against ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) during cardiopulmonary bypass, the plasma level of melatonin, and the time of surgery.
Methods: Forty patients who were to undergo elective coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) were divided into 2 groups, those who underwent their operations at 8 AM (group I; n = 20) and those who underwent their operations at 1 PM (group II; n = 20).
In this study, we attempted to determine the role of off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in the myocardial and systemic inflammatory responses. Twenty patients who underwent elective CABG were enrolled in this study. Ten patients underwent on-pump CABG, and 10 patients underwent off-pump CABG.

Forty nondiabetic male patients with three-vessel disease undergoing first-time bypass surgery were enrolled for this double-blind prospective study. Patients were randomized to be given 25 mg/kg methylprednisolone (Group I) and saline (Group II) 1 h before cardiopulmonary bypass.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAfter left internal mammary artery graft is anastomosed to the coronary artery, atherosclerotic occlusion of subclavian artery becomes more important, because the vascular segment between the origin of the subclavian artery and the coronary artery becomes a part of the coronary circulation functionally. The subclavian artery occlusion may be treated through percutaneous intervention including balloon angioplasty alone or with stent. But failure of initial treatment by percutaneous intervention is possible especially in some proximal and total occlusions.
