Purpose: Patient self-care and knowledge of chronic kidney disease (CKD) play a crucial role in treatment effectiveness at slowing disease progression and reducing complications. There is need for tools that can quantitatively assess patients' knowledge of CKD. We aimed to translate the Kidney Disease Knowledge Survey (KiKS) to Turkish, validate the questionnaire among CKD patients, and identify the determinants of CKD knowledge.

Background: Soft tissue techniques are frequently used to treat musculoskeletal disorders. Releasing the muscles through intervention from remote areas is especially important in cases where the muscles are sensitive, inaccessible or cannot be positioned appropriately. This study aimed to examine the effect of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) on hamstring flexibility via the fascial chain.

Background: Most questionnaires provide little information about children's or parents' views on functioning and do not attempt to understand their priorities or expectations. The Gait Outcomes Assessment List (GOAL) questionnaire was developed to fill this gap by identifying the most important goals of the patient and family for a gait intervention.

Research Question: To investigate the test-retest reliability and concurrent and discriminant validity of the GOAL questionnaire in children with cerebral palsy (CP) in Türkiye.

Introduction: Serum lactate levels have been recognized as a robust marker for predicting disease severity and survival in many critically ill children but consensus is lacking regarding its utility in diabetic ketoacidosis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between initial lactate levels and disease severity in pediatric patients presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Methods: This single-center retrospective descriptive study involved pediatric patients with diabetic ketoacidosis in the pediatric emergency department between January 2022 and April 2023.

Teleoperation allows workers to safely control powerful construction machines; however, its primary reliance on visual feedback limits the operator's efficiency in situations with stiff contact or poor visibility, hindering its use for assembly of pre-fabricated building components. Reliable, economical, and easy-to-implement haptic feedback could fill this perception gap and facilitate the broader use of robots in construction and other application areas. Thus, we adapted widely available commercial audio equipment to create AiroTouch, a naturalistic haptic feedback system that measures the vibration experienced by each robot tool and enables the operator to feel a scaled version of this vibration in real time.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of HPL on different parameters by different centers and urologists. While doing this, we evaluated different parameters by comparing HPL(High Power laser) and LPL(Low-power laser). This is an observational, retrospective, comparative, multicentric study of prospectively organised database.

Bee bread, a valuable bee product that has recently attracted significant public interest as a nutritional supplement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of phenolic compounds in bee bread samples from the Aegean Region and assess their bioaccessibility using a simulated human digestion model. Various extraction techniques, such as maceration, ultrasound-assisted extraction, and supercritical fluid extraction were employed to obtain extracts of bee bread.

Monkeypox virus is a viral disease transmitted to humans through contact with infected animals, such as monkeys and rodents, or through direct contact with the bodily fluids or lesions of infected humans. The aim of this study is to evaluate the inhibition effect of eight L. ethyl acetate fraction identified molecules using LC-MS on three monkeypox targets such as the vaccinia virus thymidylate kinase (VTK), the viral profilin-like protein (VPP), and the viral RNA polymerase (VRP).

Background: Measurement of serum amino acid (AA) concentrations is important in particular for the diagnosis and monitoring of inborn errors of AA metabolism. To ensure optimal clinical interpretation of AAs, reliable biological variation (BV) data are essential. In the present study, we derived BV data for 22 non-essential, conditionally essential, and essential AAs and assessed differences in BV of AAs related to sex.

Lipidomics analyses of bacteria offer the potential to detect and monitor infections in a host since many bacterial lipids are not present in mammals. To evaluate this omics approach, we first built a database of bacterial lipids for representative Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Our lipidomics analysis of the reference bacteria involved high-resolution mass spectrometry and electrospray ionization with less than a 1.

Objective: Cerebrovascular diseases (CVDs) remain an important public health issue due to the increasing number of deaths worldwide. Changes in the synthesis and release of peptides in CVDs may play an important role in elucidating the physiopathology of the disease. Therefore, this study was to investigate the fate of maresin-1 (MaR-1), subfatin (SUB), asprosin (ASP), and alamandine (ALA) levels in patients with cerebral infarction (CI), intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) evaluated within the scope of CVDs, and voluntary healthy controls.

Lanthanide-doped luminescent glasses have attracted tremendous attention in modern optoelectronic applications, especially for solid-state white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). Eu/Tb co-doped luminescent glasses are well-known to emit intense yellowish-orange light resulting from the energy transfer from green-emitting sensitizer Tb ions to red-emitting activator Eu ions. Obtaining highly efficient blue light from lanthanide ions remains a challenge due to their weak down-converted emission.

Background/aim: Lumbar instability is an important condition that can be seen frequently in people with low back pain, affecting both the progression and the choice of appropriate exercise. The Lumbar Spine Instability Questionnaire (LSIQ) is a simple and low-cost tool for evaluating disturbed back stability in people with low back pain. The aim of this study is to develop the Turkish version of the LSIQ (LSIQ-T) and to evaluate its psychometric properties using the Rasch model.

Article Synopsis
  • An obligate intracellular bacterium is responsible for Potomac horse fever (PHF), and diagnosis involves detecting antibodies, isolating the bacterium, or using a PCR assay to find its DNA.
  • A new duplex real-time PCR assay was developed by adding primers and probes, targeting two gene locations to enhance detection for diagnosing PHF in horses.
  • The modified assay, tested on samples from 56 horses, showed reliable detection without cross-reacting with common horse pathogens, but some fecal samples yielded false positives when only tested for one of the detected gene targets.

Cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr) quantum dots (QDs) have shown great potential in the field of luminescent materials owing to their superior optical and electrical properties. However, instability and lack of multicolor emissions resulting from the intrinsic nature of CsPbBr QDs are still the major challenge for their commercialization. Herein, Eu and Tm co-doped CsPbBr QD glass nanocomposites (GNCs) are successfully synthesized traditional melt-quenching followed by a heat-treatment route to obtain tunable emission in a durable host material.
