[Gastroprotective and antisecretory effect of a phytochemical made from matico leaves (Piper aduncum)].

Objectives: To determine the gastroprotective and antisecretory effect of ethanol extract from matico leaves (Piper aduncum) in animal models.

Materials And Methods: To evaluate the gastroprotective effect, 220 mice of the Balb C57 strain were used. They were randomized in 22 groups of ten animals each, in which the formation of gastric ulcers was induced with indomethacin.
