Decreased lysozyme activity was observed under conditions of melioidosis intoxication in rats induced by intraperitoneal administration of an acetone-killed 3-day culture of the bacterial mass of the melioidosis causative agent. When prodigiozan was administered 48 hours by the 4th day which was indicative of prodigiozan activation of the factors of the microbial non-specific resistance.

A study was made of various series of cholerogen on the cultures of human continuous cells of normal (F1, Rh) and tumour nature (HeLa). Cholerogen proved to produce a marked toxic action on the cultures of F1, Rh and HeLa cells causing a reduction of the number of living cells, depression of mitotic activity, a reduction of the intensity of staining on the sum total protein and RNA, a reduction of the activity in the cells of acid phosphatase and succinic dehydrogenase, and also a reduction of production of protein-polysaccharide layer. Different cholerogens produced a different toxic action on the cells of the same type.

Experiments were conducted on Rana temporaria in which cholerigenic intoxication was induced. Administration of high doses of choleragen caused in the epithelial cells of the small intestine of frogs structural-functional changes analogous to those observed in suckling rabbits used as a classic model for studying the mechanisms of cholerigenic intoxication.

For prophylaxis influenza in the infection foci under stationary conditions 213 children were treated with leucocytic interferon with metacyl and 192 children were observed as the control group. The drug was administered intranasally in a dose of 0.25 ml once a day.

A soluble cytoplasm and ribosomal fraction which were later subjected to gel-filtration were obtained by disintegration and subsequent differential centrifugation from a cholera-like strain. Immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis in gel showed that the ribosomal fraction contained up to 6 high-molecular antigenic components (including an O-antigen and the antigens identical to those of a cholerogen), and others; its low-molecular components (molecular weight 1.7-10-4 and lower) were inactive in immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis.
