Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how genetic variations in certain interleukins and other genes affect oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients undergoing root canal treatment (RCT).
  • It involved 108 participants with specific dental issues, tracking OHRQoL before and after RCT using the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) and analyzing genetic polymorphisms through saliva samples.
  • Findings revealed significant impacts of NOS2 and SOCS1 gene polymorphisms on various aspects of OHRQoL, especially influencing physical and psychological discomfort related to dental health.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether there is an association between inducible in single nucleotide polymorphisms in nitric oxide synthase (rs2297518 and rs2779249) and persistent apical periodontitis. A total of 291 Brazilian subjects were included: 125 with signs/symptoms of persistent apical periodontitis and 166 with root canal-treated teeth exhibiting healthy perirradicular tissues. Endodontically treated patients were followed up after 1 year.

Introduction: Diseases of the maxillary sinus have been associated with dental roots near the maxillary sinus that have undergone endodontic treatment.

Objective: To investigate the presence of filamentous fungi in patients with dental roots near the maxillary sinus who had apical periodontitis treated endodontically, and to alert practitioners that this could be a possible avenue of contamination of the sinus in patients who develop maxillary sinus infection.

Methods: Cross-sectional study in 60 palatal roots of the first maxillary molars near the maxillary sinus, that underwent endodontic treatment for apical periodontitis.
