High mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) amount has been reported to be beneficial for resistance and recovery of metabolic stress, while increased mtDNA synthesis activity can drive aging signs. The intriguing contrast of these two mtDNA boosting outcomes prompted us to jointly elevate mtDNA amount and frequency of replication in mice. We report that high activity of mtDNA synthesis inhibits perinatal metabolic maturation of the heart.

Methods: The multicenter retrospective real-life study data of the. retinal study group were used in this study.
Background: To investigate the anatomical and visual outcomes of the patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF), according to the baseline best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) based on the multicenter real-life data.
Methods: Five-hundred-ninety patients who had taken the Pro Re Nata (PRN) treatment regimen with three loading doses and at least one year of follow-up were included. The patients were divided into three groups according to the baseline BCVA: Group 1 (BCVA ≥ 1.
Purpose: To measure and compare the mean temperature values due to heat generated during the grinding of different prosthetic materials with diamond burs using a high-speed instrument with and without water cooling.
Materials And Methods: In total, 120 disk-shaped specimens (10 × 2 mm), each with a smaller disk in the center (3 × 2 mm), were fabricated from yttrium-stabilized zirconia, monolithic zirconia, glass-ceramic, indirect composite, polyetheretherketone (PEEK), and cast metal (Ni-Cr alloy). The specimens were divided into six groups (n = 20) according to material type.
Objective: With the initial utilization of endovascular treatment options in 1970s, the number of procedures performed for lower extremity artery disease (LEAD) both with open surgical (OS) and endovascular (EV) treatment increased, but this did not result in a decrease in the number of amputations. The burden of LEAD still constitutes a huge proportion among the health care costs over the world.
Methods: The patients who admitted to our clinic between October 2014 and December 2019 with LEAD and required revascularization were enrolled.
Purpose: Prosthetic cleansing solutions have been reported to cause retention loss in implant locator attachments due to the chemical alterations of these attachments. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different denture cleansing solutions on attachments with different retention values.
Materials And Methods: In this study, 160 polyetheretherketone locator attachments were divided into 4 groups according to their attachment retention values (yellow, pink, clear, and violet).
Behçet's disease is a relapsing, inflammatory, multi-systemic disease. Coronary arterial involvement in Behçet's disease is very rare with a prevalence of less than 0.5%.

Herein we aimed to present a case of a 64 year-old woman with acute ischemic signs in upper extremity who was diagnosed as a probable Covid-19 case incidentally after admission. Although late admission and failed recurrent embolectomies lead to an eventful course, intra-arterial thrombolysis seemed to present a benefitable treatment option for our patient.

Pulmonary sequestration is defined as nonfunctioning lung tissue that is not in normal continuity with the tracheobronchial tree and that has a systemic arterial blood supply. Herein, we aimed to present a case of a 34-year-old male patient who had massive left-sided haemothorax on admission due to a giant intralobar pulmonary sequestration. An emergent repair was performed under cardiopulmonary bypass with axillofemoral cannulation.

Methods: A total of 60 treatment-naïve patients with macular edema who underwent intravitreal aflibercept injections (2 mg/0.05 mL) with at least one year of follow-up were analyzed in this retrospective and comparative study.
Background: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (PoAF) is one of the most common complications to occur after open heart surgery. It has been shown that hypoalbuminemia accompanies some cardiovascular disorders. The present study evaluates the effects of pre-procedural albumin, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine levels on PoAF.

A 56 year-old male patient who had undergone TEVAR for Stanford type B aortic dissection 6-month ago was admitted to our clinic with uncontrolled hypertension for the last twelve hours and history of a syncopal attack three days ago. Retrograde ascending aortic dissection was detected in computed tomography angiography.

Acute aortic thrombosis which develops in the longterm following an endovascular aneurysm repair is rare. A 78-year-old male patient presented with rest pain and sudden-onset coldness at lower limbs for four hours. His medical history revealed an endovascular aneurysm repair for an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm two years ago.

Methods: We included 46 eyes of 46 patients in this retrospective study. Each month, we recorded patient visual acuity with logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution using the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study chart, central macular thickness measurements with optical coherence tomography, intraocular pressure (IOP), and posttreatment complication occurrence.
Purpose: To compare optic nerve head parameters, the thicknesses of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL), the macular retinal nerve fiber layer (mRNFL), the ganglion cell complex (GCC), and the ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) in macrodisks and normal-sized healthy disks using spectral domain optical coherence tomography.
Patients And Methods: A total of 88 healthy eyes (42 macrodisks and 46 normal-sized disks) were prospectively enrolled in the study. Optic nerve head parameters as well as pRNFL, mRNFL, GCC, and GCIPL thicknesses were measured in all subjects.
Purpose: To evaluate the vision-related quality of life (QoL) of glaucoma patients in terms of the correlation between visual field (VF) loss and National Eye Institute Visual Functioning Questionnaire-39 (NEI VFQ-39) survey.
Materials And Methods: A total of 244 glaucoma patients were examined with monocular Humphrey 24-2 central full threshold and Esterman binocular VF tests. Patients were grouped according to their monocular VFs done by Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study (AGIS) classification and Esterman binocular VF efficiency scores.

This study was designed to examine the in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of the methanol, ethanol, water, n-hexane and dicholoromethane extracts of two Allium species (Allium scabriflorum and Allium tchihatschewii) which are endemic for the flora of Turkey. The antimicrobial efficiency of the plant was evaluated according to disc diffusion and microdilution broth methods. The antimicrobial test results showed that the extracts of A.

Recently, left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation has been increasingly used in reducing pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) in patients with PH unresponsive to medical therapy. Herein, we aimed to compare the efficacy of continuous-flow and pulsatile-flow blood pumps on the improvement of PH in mechanical circulatory support patients.

Methods: Seventy-four patients with end-stage heart failure who underwent HTx in our clinic between February 2007 and July 2011 were divided into two groups; a bridge cohort (n = 28) and a nonbridge group comprising 46 who underwent HTx without mechanical circulatory support.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of direct right atrial catheter insertion for hemodialysis in patients with multiple venous access failure. We retrospectively evaluated the charts of 27 patients with multiple venous access failure who had intra-atrial dialysis catheter placement between October 2005 and October 2010 in our clinic. Permanent right atrial dialysis catheters were placed through a right anterior mini-thoracotomy under intratracheal general anesthesia in all patients.
