Marine mucilage disasters, primarily caused by global warming and marine pollution, threaten food security and the sustainability of marine food resources. This study assessed the microbial risks to public health in common sole, deep-water rose shrimp, European anchovy, Atlantic horse mackerel and Mediterranean mussel following the mucilage disaster in the Sea of Marmara in 2021. The total viable count, total Enterobacteriaceae count and the presence of Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp.

This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the effects of MPs on Mediterranean mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis, Lamarck 1819), focusing on the food safety risks associated with MP and cadmium (Cd) exposure in these organisms intended for consumption. The retention of different polymer types of MPs in mussels was specifically evaluated, and the influence of Cd on MP retention across these polymers was investigated.

Mediterranean mussels serve as a vehicle in food chain, enabling the transfer of pollutants. Farmed and wild mussels were collected from 4 different stations throughout the fishing season.

Mussels are essential filter-feeding organisms that may be highly susceptible to MPs uptake due to their global distribution and sedentary lifestyle. There is also a knowledge gap regarding MP levels in commercially-farmed and wild-sourced mussels for human consumption, creating gaps in risk identification for food safety.

This study aimed to investigate the age-based health risks arising from Hg, Cd, Pb, and As in demersal fish captured from two major bays in the Aegean Sea. For this purpose, red mullet, whiting, piper gurnard, and tub gurnard, frequently consumed species, were caught from Saros and Edremit Bays.

The study was conducted at two experimental sites -the Antalya-Kaş and Isparta-Eğirdir plantation areas- in Turkey between 1985 and 2015.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of resveratrol and octreotide, agents that are used to prevent intra-abdominal adhesions in experimental models, in preventing intraperitoneal adhesions when used alone or in combination.
Materials And Methods: The study employed 28 young female Wistar albino rats weighing 250-300 grams. An experimental adhesion model was created in each rat using serosal abrasion and peritoneal excision.
The compositions of methanol and acetone extracts obtained from L. and L. were investigated.

Secondary purposes were to compare the complication rates of the two techniques and to examine the effects of TAP block and IHINB on chronic postoperative pain.
Methods: This was a prospective randomized controlled open-label study.
Background: The study was conducted to evaluate the frequencies of the anatomic variations and the gender distributions of these variations of the pancreatic duct and their relevance with the Cambridge classification system as morphological sign of chronic pancreatitis using magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP).
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 1312 consecutive patients who referred to our department for MRCP between January 2013 and August 2015. We excluded 154 patients from the study because of less than optimal results due to imaging limitations or a history of surgery on pancreas.
Objective: Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) effects mainly young men's social and work life with frequent recurrence rate. Reoperation for unimproved or recurrent disease is somehow troublesome. Surgeons may think that changing treatment strategy after recurrence may prevent further relapses of PSD.

Recent studies report that tumor microenvironment effects prognosis of colorectal cancers. We analyzed the densities of FoxP3+ cells and CD8+ cells, the ratio of FoxP3+/CD8+ cells and the relationship between these parameters, clinicopathological features, and prognosis. A total of 186 colorectal adenocarcinoma were evaluated in terms of clinicopathological features.

Duplications can occur anywhere in the intestinal tract from the mouth to the anus. Accurate diagnosis of cysts before resection is difficult even using the most advanced imaging techniques.

Survivin, an apoptosis inhibitor protein expressed in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle, plays a role in cell division and affects both cell survival and proliferation. Survivin has been investigated in many types of cancer, and this study aims to examine the relationship of survivin expression in gallbladder cancer patients with clinicopathological features and prognosis.

Background/aims: Gastric remnant cancers (GRC) are usually detected at a later stage resulting in low rates of curative resection and a consequently poor prognosis. The incidence and etiology of GRC have been changing recently because of early detection and improved outcomes in patients with gastric cancers. This study was performed to evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with GRC.

Two different forms of mastitis have been described, lactational and non-lactational. Lactational mastitis is the most common type and generally conservative therapy that includes milk removal and physical therapy provides symptomatic relief, but antibiotic therapy is also needed.

Hydatid cyst is an infectious disease characterized by cysts formed primarly within the gastrointestinal tract by echinococci. Hepatic hydatid disease, which is the most common form, remains asymptomatic until complications occur. In this report, we present an 80 years old patient who presented with a hepatic hydatid cyst which fistulized to the abdominal skin into the Emergency Department.

Hypertriglyceridaemia over 1,000 mg/dl can provoke acute pancreatitis (AP) and its persistence can worsen the clinical outcome. In contrast, a rapid decrease in triglyceride level is beneficial.

Severe inflammation makes laparoscopic dissection technically more demanding in acute cholecystitis. Conversion to open cholecystectomy due to adverse conditions is still required in some patients.
