Article Synopsis
  • * This study focuses on the thermodynamic behavior of water + 1-butanol + DES systems, specifically choline chloride + glycerol, by examining liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) and vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) at controlled conditions, employing established thermodynamic models for analysis.
  • * Results include the development of phase diagrams and calculations of separation coefficients, which help evaluate the effectiveness of DESs in extraction processes, offering insights into their potential applications in industrial separations. *

Article Synopsis
  • Biocomposites are eco-friendly materials made from natural fibers, like jute, and are seen as sustainable alternatives in the polymer industry to reduce environmental impact.
  • This study tested both untreated and alkaline-treated jute fibers in natural rubber for use in shoe counter soles, finding that treated fibers improved tensile strength while maintaining flexibility.
  • The resulting composites showed promising properties for various applications, including construction, automotive, and footwear, and could help lower carbon footprints thanks to their innovative materials.

In ophthalmology, the registration problem consists of finding a geometric transformation that aligns a pair of images, supporting eye-care specialists who need to record and compare images of the same patient. Considering the registration methods for handling eye fundus images, the literature offers only a limited number of proposals based on deep learning (DL), whose implementations use the supervised learning paradigm to train a model. Additionally, ensuring high-quality registrations while still being flexible enough to tackle a broad range of fundus images is another drawback faced by most existing methods in the literature.
