Women's experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) from their male partners can include psychological, physical, and sexual control and abuse. The psychological effects of abuse (PEA) include terror, shame, and loss of power and control in relationships. While women's experiences of IPV are associated with decreased condom use, limited research has examined the impact of PEA on women's condom use.
