Sensory and Motor Function, Pain, and Health Status in Children with Arthrogryposis and Myelomeningocele.

Background/objectives: Proprioception and sensory disorders have been reported in children with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) and myelomeningocele (MMC), but valid and reliable assessment tools are limited in accurately identifying the sensory aspects of motor disorders. This study aimed to investigate the somatosensory status in the feet and legs. An additional purpose of this study was to explore pain, skin irritations, and health status.

Investigating the added value of incorporatingmammographic density to an integrated breastcancer risk model with questionnaire-based riskfactors and polygenic risk score.

Introduction: Incorporation of mammographic density to breast cancer risk models could improve risk stratification to tailor screening and prevention strategies according to risk. Robust evaluation of the value of adding mammographic density to models with comprehensive information on questionnaire-based risk factors and polygenic risk score is needed to determine its effectiveness in improving risk stratification of such models.

Methods: We used the Individualized Coherent Absolute Risk Estimator (iCARE) tool for risk model building and validation to incorporate density to a previously validated literature-based model with questionnaire-based risk factors and a 313-variant polygenic risk score (PRS).

Mortality in ischaemic stroke patients without standard modifiable risk factors: An analysis of the Riksstroke registry.

Introduction: Little is known of the long-term prognosis of patients with acute ischaemic stroke in the absence of standard modifiable stroke risk factors (SMoRFs). In acute coronary syndromes, patients without modifiable risk factors have a higher mortality rate. We analysed data from the Swedish Stroke Register to determine survival of patients without SMoRFs following an ischaemic stroke.

Polygenic score distribution differences across European ancestry populations: implications for breast cancer risk prediction.

Background: The 313-variant polygenic risk score (PRS) provides a promising tool for clinical breast cancer risk prediction. However, evaluation of the PRS across different European populations which could influence risk estimation has not been performed.

Methods: We explored the distribution of PRS across European populations using genotype data from 94,072 females without breast cancer diagnosis, of European-ancestry from 21 countries participating in the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC) and 223,316 females without breast cancer diagnosis from the UK Biobank.

Occupational-related risk of testing SARS-CoV-2 positive for publicly employed medical doctors in Sweden: A nationwide cohort study.

Aims: Doctors have an increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection caused by exposure to contagious patients. We aimed to identify which clinical specialities among medical doctors had the highest occupation-related risk of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, utilizing data for all publicly employed medical doctors in Sweden.

Methods: Data regarding positive SARS-CoV-2 test results and employment for publicly employed doctors in Sweden were divided into three observation periods: 1) 1 February to 31 December 2020, 2) 1 January to 30 June 2021 and 3) 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Low-dose tamoxifen treatment reduces collagen organisation indicative of tissue stiffness in the normal breast: results from the KARISMA randomised controlled trial.

Background: Tissue stiffness, dictated by organisation of interstitial fibrillar collagens, increases breast cancer risk and contributes to cancer progression. Tamoxifen is a standard treatment for receptor-positive breast cancer and is also aproved for primary prevention. We investigated the effect of tamoxifen and its main metabolites on the breast tissue collagen organisation as a proxy for stiffness and explored the relationship between mammographic density (MD) and collagen organisation.

Tenecteplase compared to alteplase in real-world outcome: A Swedish Stroke Register study.

Background: Tenecteplase is increasingly used off-label as an alternative to alteplase for ischemic stroke thrombolysis. Our aim was to evaluate the safety of tenecteplase versus alteplase in comprehensive real-world data.

Methods: We compared the outcomes for adult patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with alteplase or tenecteplase, registered in the Swedish Stroke Register between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020.

Anthropogenic actinides in seawater and biota from the west coast of Sweden.

The assessment of the origin of the anthropogenic contamination in marine regions impacted by other sources than global fallout is a challenge. This is the case of the west coast of Sweden, influenced by the liquid effluents released by the European Nuclear Reprocessing Plants through North Sea currents and by Baltic Sea local and regional sources, among others. This work focused on the study of anthropogenic actinides (U, Np and Pu) in seawater and biota from a region close to Gothenburg where radioactive wastes with an unknown composition were dumped in 1964.

Patients' experiences with the application of medical adhesives to the skin: a qualitative systematic review.

Objectives: Medical adhesives provide securement of medical devices, facilitate skin protection and allow non-invasive monitoring. Application and removal of medical adhesives can result in pain, dermatitis, trauma or other skin lesions. Understanding patients' experiences when subjected to medical adhesives will contribute to the improvement of clinical routines and the development and improvement of new adhesive technologies.

Background: Sedentary behavior, such as excessive sitting, increases risk of cardiovascular disease and premature mortality in the general population, but this has not been assessed in type 1 diabetes. Occupational sitting is increasingly ubiquitous and often constitutes the largest portion of daily sitting time. Our aim was to identify clinical factors associated with excessive occupational sitting in type 1 diabetes and, in a prospective setting, to explore its association with cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality, independent of leisure-time physical activity.

Constitutional Factors and Irradiation as Risk Factors for Thymoma: A European Case-Control Study.

Little is known about the aetiology of thymoma. This study aims to identify medical risk factors for thymoma as a systematic approach to new hypotheses on the aetiology of this disease. A European multi-centre case-control study was conducted from 1995 to 1997, including incident cases aged 35-69 years with thymoma.

Parents in Neonatal Pain Management-An International Survey of Parent-Delivered Interventions and Parental Pain Assessment.

Background: While parent-delivered pain management has been demonstrated to effectively reduce neonatal procedural pain responses, little is known about to what extent it is utilized. Our aim was to explore the utilization of parents in neonatal pain management and investigate whether local guidelines promote parent-delivered interventions.

Methods: A web-based survey was distributed to neonatal units worldwide.

Children's and parents' attitudes to and knowledge about HPV vaccination following a targeted information intervention.

The aim of this study was to investigate Swedish children's and parents' attitudes and knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination a year after gender-neutral HPV vaccination was introduced in Sweden's national immunization program (NIP). Additional information about HPV and vaccine was provided in the extended immunazation program. In total, 276 parents and 206 children from 22 School Health Services responded to a web-based survey.
