Objective: As the genetic changes in recurrent pleomorphic adenoma (RPA) have not yet been investigated, the aim of this study was to assess the genomic profile of somatic copy number alteration in RPA and pleomorphic adenoma (PA) by using array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH).
Study Design: Four cases of RPA and 13 cases of PA were evaluated by using aCGH, using a 180 K platform. Data were analyzed by using Nexus Copy Number Discovery.
Lysozyme is an enzymatic marker of acinar and intercalated duct cells of normal salivary glands. The aim of this study was to verify whether lysozyme expression could be useful to distinguish acinic cell carcinoma (ACC) from its main mimic, mammary analog secretory carcinoma (MASC). For comparison, DOG1 expression was analyzed as well.

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA) arises in PA, and PLAG1 expression is believed to be maintained from PA to CXPA, as it can contribute to the carcinogenesis process. To evaluate if PLAG1 is a good marker of malignant transformation from PA to CXPA as well as to evaluate if PLAG1 expression is associated with progression and histopathologic subtype of CXPA.

Objective: The progression of pleomorphic adenoma (PA) to carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA) encompasses several genomic alterations involving complex pathways. Tumor suppressor genes seem to play important roles in the tumorigenesis of both tumors. The aim of this study was to evaluate copy number and methylation of tumor suppressor genes' status in PA and CXPA samples.

Its expression in recurrent pleomorphic adenoma (RPA), however, has not been investigated. Since complex mechanisms are involved in tumor recurrence, the aim of this study was to investigate whether PLAG1 overexpression occurs in RPA.

The diagnosis of PLGA, in general, is not difficult but in occasional tumors showing limited invasion or in small biopsy specimens, PLGA may be confused with cellular pleomorphic adenoma (PA). Plasmacytoid cells, a usual component of PAs, have been considered helpful for correct tumor identification.

The primary objective of this study was to verify the incidence of L. monocytogenes-associated abortion and fetal deaths in the Center's outdoor breeding colony.
