Introduction: Climate change presents a significant risk for the mental and physical health of young people. In order to identify and properly care for potential mental health impairments from extreme weather events, the relevance of these impairments must be assessed as high by the professional groups providing care for children and adolescents. This raises the question of which factors influence the individual relevance assessment of caretaking professionals?

Methods: Data was collected creating and conducting a Germany-wide online questionnaire via LimeSurvey.

Changes in psychological variables in couples after successful in-vitro fertilization (IVF) have rarely been investigated. This paper describes follow-up assessments of a previously published study investigating changes in life satisfaction, stress and worry related to childbirth in couples undergoing IVF and those with natural pregnancy. Questionnaire data were obtained in 75 IVF couples and 70 couples with natural pregnancy before pregnancy, and at 6 and 12 months postpartum; follow-up data were recorded 18 and 24 months postpartum.

Article Synopsis
  • Previous research highlights that couples facing infertility experience reduced well-being, but changes in psychological states post-IVF have not been deeply studied.
  • This study compared changes in life satisfaction, stress, and worry in 77 couples who had successful IVF and 50 couples who conceived naturally, assessing them before pregnancy and at 6 and 12 months after childbirth.
  • Results indicated that IVF couples initially had lower life satisfaction and higher stress but experienced significant improvements post-birth, while natural pregnancy couples faced temporary declines in life satisfaction and increases in stress at 6 months, which normalized by 12 months.
