Aim: To explore Finnish paramedics' perceptions of work-related performance expectations in relation to work experience, and understand how organizational socialization contributes to understanding paramedics' performance expectations.
Design: A qualitative design with a deductive-inductive approach utilizing a social constructivist framework. The organizational socialization framework by Wanberg was used as the theoretical basis.
High circulating vitamin D levels and supplementation may lower prostate cancer mortality. To probe for direct effects of vitamin D signaling in the primary tumor, we assessed how activation of intratumoral vitamin D signaling in prostate cancer is associated with lethal prostate cancer during long-term follow-up. Among 404 participants with primary prostate cancer in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study and the Physicians' Health Study, we defined a gene score of expected activated intratumoral vitamin D signaling consisting of transcriptionally upregulated (CYP27A1, CYP2R1, RXRA, RXRB, and VDR) and downregulated genes (CYP24A1 and DHCR7).

The histopathological classification of the disease is complex and has generated some controversy. The analysis of circulating tumor cells can be used for the early detection of metastatic potential.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have been poorly investigated in peritoneal metastatic colorectal cancer. The aim of the study is to examine the role of CTCs as a biomarker for monitoring disease progression, treatment response, and residual disease using CellMate - a new promising in vitro diagnostic platform technology.

Few studies have investigated social support and overall survival (OS) in individuals with advanced prostate cancer in an international cohort. We investigated the associations of marital status and living arrangements with OS among individuals with advanced prostate cancer in the International Registry for Men with Advanced Prostate Cancer (IRONMAN).

To investigate the presence and clinical significance of HCMV antibodies levels in plasma samples obtained from patients with brain tumors. HCMV-specific IgG and IgM antibody levels were determined in 59 plasma samples collected from brain tumor patients included in a prospective study and in 114 healthy individuals.

However, there is a subset of men who develop lethal PCa despite low baseline PSA. We investigated how a PCa polygenic risk score (PRS) in addition to baseline PSA impacts the prediction of lethal PCa among 483 men aged 40-70 yr from the Physicians' Health Study followed over a median of 33 yr.

Prospective studies on avocado consumption and cancer risk have yet to be conducted. This study included data from 45,289 men in the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (HPFS, 1986-2016) and 67,039 women in the Nurses' Health Study (NHS, 1986-2014).

Stress factors show increased risk for burnout, fatigue, leaving the profession, decreased performance and risk for patient safety. Meanwhile, paramedics' strong community of practice, autonomy and a sense of professional respect are important factors in forming psychological resilience.

We aimed to discover a covalent myeloperoxidase inhibitor with high selectivity for myeloperoxidase over thyroid peroxidase, limited penetration of the blood-brain barrier, and pharmacokinetics suitable for once-daily oral administration at low dose. Structure-activity relationship, biophysical, and structural studies led to prioritization of four compounds for in-depth safety and pharmacokinetic studies in animal models.

Subcutaneous (SC) administration of nanomedicines allows preferential access to both the lymphatic and blood systems and may therefore provide a route to enhanced drug exposure to lymphomas. Here we examine the impact of SC dosing on lymphatic exposure, pharmacokinetics (PK), and efficacy of AZD0466, a small molecule dual Bcl-2/Bcl-xL inhibitor conjugated to a 'DEP®' G5 poly-l-lysine dendrimer.

Consequently, they are at risk for burnout and secondary traumatic stress, factors inherent to professional quality of life. Defusing and peer-support potentially decrease such symptoms; however, perceived defusing needs and use are not always balanced.

Prostate cancer has the widest racial disparities of any cancer, and these disparities appear at every stage of the cancer continuum. This review focuses on the disparities in prostate cancer between Black and White men, spanning from prevention and screening to clinical outcomes. We conduct an expansive review of the literature on racial disparities in prostate cancer, interpret the findings, and discuss areas of unmet need in research.

Water buffalo is an important livestock species in Bangladesh, but information about the occurrence and aetiology of SCM in this species is scarce. A cross-sectional study was conducted as part of the Udder Health Bangladesh Programme to (i) determine the occurrence of SCM and bulk milk somatic cell count (SCC) in water buffalo in Bangladesh, (ii) identify pathogens causing SCM and (iii) evaluate penicillin resistance in isolated staphylococci strains.

Many studies on working condition have used the Effort-Reward-Imbalance (ERI) model, which posits that poor health and well-being may result from imbalances between the level of effort employees perceive that they put into their work and the rewards they receive. The model has not been used in qualitative research or applied to investigate primary care physicians' working conditions.

Aim: This study was performed to discover novel partners of EpCAM, which may provide a better understanding of its functions.
Background: There have been major developments in healthcare services as well as changes in demographics in recent years, and this has, among other things, led to increased demand for ambulance services. In general, this has also led to calls for more highly educated paramedics.
Main Body: Erasmus + provided a grant for three universities and one public service provider in four Nordic countries to work on a harmonised model curriculum for a bachelor's degree in paramedic education.
Background: Digital consultation with primary care physicians via mobile telephone apps has been spreading rapidly in Sweden since 2014. Digital consultation allows remote working because physicians can work from home, outside their traditional primary care environment. Despite the spread of digital consultation in primary care, there is a lack of knowledge concerning how the new service affects physicians' psychosocial work environment.

Changes can be challenging because they contradict humans' basic need for a stable environment. The present study poses the question: what characterizes successful organizational changes in health care? The aim was to investigate the characteristics of changes of relevance for the work of health care professionals that they deemed successful.
