Objective: The objective of this systematic review was to investigate the effects of educational interventions designed to develop physical therapist learners' clinical reasoning across the full continuum of professional development.
Data Sources: A systematic search was conducted of 6 databases, the entire Journal of Physical Therapy Education collection, and the reference lists of included articles through March 2022.
Study Selection: English-language primary relevant research studies of all research designs were included while grey literature was excluded.

Background: Phenomenological psychopathologists have recently highlighted how people with delusions experience multiple realities (delusional and non-delusional) and have suggested this double bookkeeping cannot be explained via predictive processing. Here, we present data from Kamin blocking and extinction learning that show how predictive processing might, in principle, explain a pervasive sense of dual reality.
Methods: This cross-sectional study involved three participant groups: patients with schizophrenia (SZ; n=42), healthy participants with elevated esoteric beliefs (EEB; clairaudient psychics; n=31), and heathy controls (with neither illness nor significant delusional ideation, n=62).
Background: The farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a leading therapeutic target for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)-related fibrosis. INT-767, a potent FXR agonist, has shown promise in preclinical models. We aimed to define the mechanisms of INT-767 activity in experimental MASH and dissect cellular and molecular targets of FXR agonism in human disease.

Two frequently used tools to estimate survival in patients with BM are the recursive partitioning analysis (RPA) and the diagnosis-specific graded prognostic assessment (DS-GPA). Given recent advances in therapies and improved survival for patients with BM, this study aims to validate and analyze these 2 models in a modern cohort.

However, this conceptualization has been challenged by observations that MMN and positive symptoms are often uncorrelated. In the current study, we tested the hypothesis that reduced MMN is associated with the presence of hallucinations and delusions specifically rather than the presence of a psychiatric illness.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAngelman syndrome (AS) is a rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder with profoundly debilitating symptoms with no FDA-approved cure or therapeutic. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and its receptor tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB), have a well-established role as regulators of synaptic plasticity, dendritic outgrowth and spine formation. Previously, we reported that the association of postsynaptic density protein 95 (PSD-95) with TrkB is critical for intact BDNF signaling in the AS mouse model, as illustrated by attenuated PLCγ and PI3K signaling and intact MAPK pathway signaling.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between comorbid chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, tobacco use, and the incidence of postoperative hematoma requiring reoperation after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF).
Summary Of Background Data: Prior studies have identified general risk factors such as multilevel fusion and coagulopathy.
Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to (1) evaluate recent trends in the use of intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) in the United States, (2) assess regional variations in the use of IONM, and (3) assess the association between IONM and clinical outcomes.
Summary Of Background Data: IONM is frequently used during anterior cervical procedures to mitigate the risk of neurological injury.
Brain microvascular dysfunction is an important feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD). To better understand the brain microvascular molecular signatures of AD, we processed and analyzed isolated human brain microvessels by data-independent acquisition liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (DIA LC-MS/MS) to generate a quantitative dataset at the peptide and protein level. Brain microvessels were isolated from parietal cortex grey matter using protocols that preserve viability for downstream functional studies.

This study aimed to assess the incidence of dysphagia and radiographic outcomes in adult patients who have undergone ACDF with interbody spacer with integrated anchor fixation (ISa).
Methods: Patients who underwent index ACDF with a commercially available ISa by a fellowship-trained spine surgeon between January 2018 and December 2021 were retrospectively included.
Background: The control and prevention of mosquito-borne diseases is mostly achieved with insecticides. However, their use has led to the rapid development and spread of insecticide resistance worldwide. Health experts have called for intensified efforts to find new approaches to reduce mosquito populations and human-mosquito contact.

One challenge in the acquisition of contrast-enhanced CT studies in reptiles is the difficulty in placing intravenous catheters due to the poor conspicuity of peripheral vessels. To overcome these limitations, intraosseous catheterization of the long bones (humerus, femur, and tibia) can be used.

Background: People with psychosis and mood disorders experience disruptions in working memory; however, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. We focused on 2 potential mechanisms: poor attentional engagement should be associated with elevated levels of prestimulus alpha-band activity within the electroencephalogram (EEG), whereas impaired working memory encoding should be associated with reduced poststimulus alpha suppression.
Methods: We collected EEG data from 68 people with schizophrenia, 43 people with bipolar disorder with a history of psychosis, 53 people with major depressive disorder, and 90 healthy comparison subjects while they completed a spatial working memory task.
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) encompass a wide array of debilitating symptoms, including severe sensory deficits and abnormal language development. Sensory deficits early in development may lead to broader symptomatology in adolescents and adults. The mechanistic links between ASD risk genes, sensory processing and language impairment are unclear.

With severe pelvic obliquity, the ribs come into contact with the high side of the pelvis, termed rib-on-pelvis deformity (ROP). The goal of this study is to evaluate whether ROP is associated with reported pain and other health-related quality of life (HRQOL) measures.

This study's goal was to determine whether it may also have antiviral activity against structurally distinct viruses. AgIO was tested following ASTM E1052-20, Standard Practice to Assess the Activity of Microbicides Against Viruses in Suspension, against adenovirus type 5, murine norovirus, poliovirus type 1, SARS-CoV-2 (original), and SARS-CoV-2 (omicron) (host cells: H1HeLa, RAW 264.

Recent work has shown that SAA proteins can enter the brain by crossing the intact blood-brain barrier (BBB), and that they can impair BBB functions. Once in the central nervous system (CNS), SAA proteins can have both protective and harmful effects, which have important implications for CNS disease.

We hypothesized that N partitioning to milk and excreta pools as well as the rates of the processes that drive this partitioning would differ for alfalfa silage, corn silage, corn grain, and soybean meal. Feed ingredients were endogenously labeled with N and included in 4 diets to create treatments with the same dietary composition and different labeled feed.

This poor performance may partially be due to lower motivation and reduced attention on the part of inexperienced listeners. The current experiment is designed to examine the role of motivation in difficult perceptual tasks through use of an established methodology that uses singing voice stimuli.

Methods: Patients undergoing active chemotherapy who reported associated nasal symptoms were randomized 1:1 to receive RG or IS, administered twice daily for 2 weeks. Consenting participants completed nasal symptom questionnaires at baseline and then weekly while on treatment.
