We developed QR code online tools, simulated and tested QR code applications for medical information uses including scanning QR code labels, URLs and authentication. Our results show possible applications for QR code in medicine.

We analyzed the server logs of the 'PubMed for Handhelds' portal for a 30-day period, defined user characteristics and used a smartphone to do 'typical' MEDLINE searches. We then determined the amount of data exchanged between server and mobile device. Wireless Web access can be a useful tool to the mobile clinician.

Background: For years, Uniform Resource Locator (URL) decay or "link rot" has been a growing concern in the field of biomedical sciences. This paper addresses this issue by examining the status of the URLs published in MEDLINE abstracts, establishing current availability and estimating URL decay in these records from 1994 to 2006. We also reviewed the information provided by the URL to determine if the context that the author cited in writing the paper is the same information presently available in the URL.

Background: Because few studies have been performed regarding the factors affecting nostril shape in Asian noses, this study was undertaken to determine them.

Methods: A total of 20 fresh cadaver noses were classified into horizontal and vertical types and dissected. The authors investigated the presence, volume, and insertions of muscles surrounding the ala; alar cartilage shape; footplate segment ratio of the medial crus; and the characteristics of tip supporting structures.
