Background: Central nervous system (CNS) tuberculomas are a feared complication of tuberculosis (TB) infection. These lesions can present in varying manners and are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of the lesion and the underlying infection are critical in the care of these patients.

Objective: To identify factors associated with survival in a series of patients who underwent spinal surgery for metastatic melanoma.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all patients (n = 64) who received surgical intervention for melanoma metastases to the spine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center between July 1993 and March 2012.
Object: Anticoagulant-associated intracerebral hemorrhages (AAICH) have a high morbidity and mortality, necessitating urgent treatment. We examined outcomes after conventional craniotomy and stereotactic fibrinolytic therapy in a series of patients with anticoagulant-associated hemorrhages.
Methods: Among 129 consecutive surgically treated patients with supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage, 27 patients with AAICH were identified (mean age 62; range 36-79).
Objectives: To date, numerous studies have compared functional outcomes between stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and microsurgery (MS) in the treatment of vestibular schwannomas (VS). However, most of them involve tumors of difference sizes, radiation dosages, and surgical approaches. Few have systematically compared issues of dysequilibrium.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: To determine treatment outcome after surgical resection for progressive brain metastases after gamma knife radiosurgery (GKR) and to explore the role of dynamic contrast agent-enhanced perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and proton spectroscopic MRI studies (MRS/P) in predicting pathological findings.
Methods: Between 1997 and 2002, 32 patients underwent surgical resection for suspected progression of brain metastases from a cohort of 245 patients with brain metastases treated with GKR. Postradiosurgery MRI surveillance was performed at 6 and 12 weeks, and then every 12 weeks after GKR.
