- - We studied how distributing oral rabies vaccine baits at high density (150 baits/km) in a naïve area of Virginia affected rabies virus seroconversion in raccoons over a three-year period (2014-2016).
- - The results indicated that raccoon seroconversion rates gradually increased each year with high-density baiting, but there was no significant difference in seroconversion between high and standard bait densities (75 baits/km) in previously baited areas.
- - Virginia opossums, which were numerous in the study area and competed for the bait, did not impact the rabies antibody response in raccoon populations despite their presence.
