Nanocarriers such as liposomes modified with mitochondriotropic moieties can be developed to send therapeutic molecules to mitochondria. Experimental Approach: As a proof-of-principle demonstration, here we describe the use of electrochemical aptamer-based (EAB) sensors to measure transport of the antibiotic vancomycin from the plasma (measured in the jugular vein) to the cerebrospinal fluid (measured in the lateral ventricle) of live rats with temporal resolution of a few seconds.
Key Results: In our first efforts, we made measurements solely in the ventricle.

The family of the Boolean inner product function is known to be representable by neural networks of threshold neurons of depth 3 with only 2n+1 units ( the input dimension)-whereas an exact representation by a depth 2 network cannot possibly be of polynomial size. Methods: We evaluated the expression profile of six candidate miRNAs (hsa-miR-145-5p, hsa-miR-376a-3p, hsa-miR-3680-5p, hsa-miR-4253-5p, hsa-miR-4482-3p, and hsa-miR-4725) in patients with BD-I and in healthy controls (aged 11-50 years).

We use a model-based approach based on a stochastic Susceptible-Infections-Removed (SIR) model with time-varying parameters, which captures the evolution of the disease dynamics in response to changes in social behavior, non-pharmaceutical interventions, and testing rates. We show that, in the presence of asymptomatic cases, such model includes internal parameters and states that cannot be uniquely identified solely on the basis of measurements of new cases and deaths, but this does not preclude the construction of reliable forecasts for future values of these measurements.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) gene polymorphisms and unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (URPL).
Materials And Methods: This study included 70 URPL patients with a history of two or more miscarriages and 70 healthy multiparous women as a control group. KIR genotyping was performed in all subjects for the KIRs 2DL1-4 and 2DS1-5 genes using polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers.
Background: Evidence from several studies show poor guideline adherence to COPD treatment, but no such study has been undertaken in Norway. The objectives of this study, was to estimate and compare the guideline adherence to COPD treatment in general population-based and hospital-recruited COPD patients, and find possible predictors of guideline adherence.
Methods: From the prospective, observational EconCOPD-study, we analysed guideline adherence for 90 population-based COPD cases compared to 245 hospital-recruited COPD patients.
