Methods: This is an exploratory, "a posteriori," and non-experimental study. Factor structure and factor invariance by country and gender were analyzed.
Chemokines are important signaling molecules in the immune and nervous system. Using a fluorescence reporter mouse model, we demonstrate that the chemokine CCL17, a ligand of the chemokine receptor CCR4, is produced in the murine brain, particularly in a subset of hippocampal CA1 neurons. We found that basal expression of Ccl17 in hippocampal neurons was strongly enhanced by peripheral challenge with lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Objective: To study the significance and relevance of social responsibility in the academic training of medical schools in Latin America.
Unlabelled: Universal prenatal daily supplementation with iron (60-120mg iron) plus folic acid (0.4mg), as recommended by INACG/WHO/UNICEF, prevents anemia where iron deficiency is prevalent but may be excessive for non-anemic women. Weekly supplementation with 120mg iron plus various amounts of folic acid similarly prevents significant anemia.

The varicella-zoster virus (VZV) open reading frame (ORF) 66 encodes a basophilic kinase orthologous to the US3 protein kinases found in all alphaherpesviruses. This review summarizes current information on the ORF66 kinase, and outlines apparent differences from other US3 kinases, as well as some of the conserved functions. One critical difference is the VZV ORF66 kinase targeting of the major regulatory VZV IE62 protein to control its nuclear import and assembly into the VZV virion, which is so far unprecedented in the alphaherpesviruses.

Cells expressing enhanced green fluorescent protein-tagged functional and inactivated ORF66 (GFP-66 and GFP-66kd) from replication-defective adenovirus vectors revealed that ORF66 reduced MHC-I surface levels in a manner dependent on kinase activity. Cells infected with recombinant VZV expressing GFP-66 exhibited a significantly greater reduction in MHC-I surface expression than that observed in cells infected with VZV disrupted in GFP-66 expression.

Patients And Methods: Following failure of a first- or second-line taxane-containing regimen for metastatic disease, 301 women were randomly assigned to receive PLD (50 mg/m(2) every 28 days); or comparator-vinorelbine (30 mg/m(2) weekly) or mitomycin C (10 mg/m(2) day 1 and every 28 days) plus vinblastine (5 mg/m(2) day 1, day 14, day 28, and day 42) every 6 to 8 weeks. Patients were stratified before random assignment based on number of previous chemotherapy regimens for metastatic disease and presence of bone metastases only.
Bronchiectasis occurred naturally in 12-month-old spontaneously diabetic eSS male rats. The lungs of 3 and 6-month-old eSS rats were compared in eumetabolic eSS rats from three inbred lines consisting of inbred spontaneously diabetic eSS derived from IIM strain; these were compared with eumetabolic, outbred Wistar rats, paired by sex and age. Acrylic casts of bronchial tree were obtained after injection of a plastic substance.
