Purpose: To evaluate the impact of systemic cyclophosphamide treatment on the rat uterus and investigate the potential therapeutic effects of natural antioxidant preparations curcumin and capsaicin against cyclophosphamide side effects.

Methods: A 40 healthy adult female Wistar albino rats were used in this study. Rats were randomly divided into four groups to determine the effects of curcumin and capsaicin against Cyclophosphamide side effects on the uterus (n=10 in each group); Group 1 was the control group (sham-operated), Group 2 was the cyclophosphamide group, Group 3 was the cyclophosphamide + curcumin (100mg/kg) group, and Group 4 was the cyclophosphamide + capsaicin (0.

Objective: To evaluate the protective effects of glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) and chrysin (CH) on experimental ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rat ovaries using tissue oxidative stress marker levels, hormone levels, and histopathological scores.

Methods: Sixty healthy rats were randomly divided into six equal groups: control, I/R, I/R + CH (50 mg/kg/day), I/R + GA (100 mg/kg/day), CH (50 mg/kg/day), and GA (100 mg/kg/day). Biochemical, hormonal, and histopathological evaluations were performed on blood and tissue samples 14 days after CH and GA treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • The article investigates the impact of nerolidol and hesperidin on endometriosis in a rat model, where endometriosis was induced through surgery.
  • After two weeks of treatment with either drug, results showed a significant reduction in the volume of endometriotic lesions compared to the control group.
  • Additionally, both treatments improved oxidative stress markers and histological conditions in the affected tissues, indicating their effectiveness in reducing endometriosis symptoms.

Background: In recent years, cancer rates have been rising among reproductive-age women. Thus, chemotherapy exposure has become an important cause of premature ovarian failure (POF). There has been growing interest regarding the preservation and restoration of ovarian function before and after oncological treatment because of the reproductive risk of chemotherapeutics and improved long-term survival of cancer patients.

Achondroplasia is the most prevalent form of dwarfism, and there is little evidence about the optimal management of pregnant women with achondroplasia. We presented a 25-year-old primigravid woman with achondroplasia who was followed up during the pregnancy period and performed elective caesarean section with combined spinal-epidural anaesthesia at the 38th week of gestation. Frequent obstetric follow-up visits and invasive prenatal diagnostic tests should be offered during the antenatal period due to the increased risk for obstetric complications, such as premature delivery and fetal anomalies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate how obesity affects inflammatory markers in amniotic fluid during the second trimester of pregnancy, focusing on the relationship between maternal BMI and fetal inflammatory exposure.
  • The research involved analyzing amniotic fluid samples from 84 pregnant women to measure levels of specific inflammatory markers, including IL-1β, IL-6, and various matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).
  • Results showed that higher levels of IL-1β and IL-6, along with increased MMP levels, were significantly associated with women classified as class II-III obese, suggesting that these fetuses are exposed to greater inflammatory conditions in utero compared to those of leaner women.

Objective: To compare the prevalence of various metabolic and cardiovascular risk factors and insulin resistance between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients with or without hyperandrogenism.

Material And Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study involving women with PCOS as diagnosed according to the Androgen Excess (AE) Society definition (n=504) and women with normoandrogenemic PCOS (n=183). Anthropometrics, lipid profile, glucose, insulin, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), and reproductive hormone levels were evaluated.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate maternal and neonatal outcomes of conservative management of post-partum hemorrhage due to placenta previa-accreta using hypogastric artery ligation and endo-uterine hemostatic suture to lower uterine segment.

Methods: The records of 38 patients who were managed conservatively with hypogastric artery ligation and endo-uterine hemostatic suture to control post-partum hemorrhage secondary to placenta previa-accreta between April 2014 and January 2016, were reviewed retrospectively. Placenta previa-accreta was diagnosed according to gray-scale, color and 3-D power Doppler ultrasonography in addition to the intraoperative findings based on fragmentary or difficult separation of the placenta.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess changes in serum β-hCG levels over time as a way to determine the success of methotrexate therapy in women with ectopic pregnancies.
  • Researchers reviewed medical data from 93 women treated with a single dose of methotrexate, calculating percentage changes in β-hCG from day 0 to days 1, 4, and 7.
  • Results indicated that a significant drop in β-hCG levels (55.8% by day 4) correlated with high treatment success (89.6%), suggesting that monitoring these levels could predict therapy outcomes.
