Objectives: This study examines the impact of pulmonary embolism (PE) on mortality among patients with femoral neck fractures, exploring the predictive value of preoperative PE for postoperative occurrences and associated mortality over a 5-year follow-up period.
Methods: We analyzed 2256 patients over 60 years old admitted with femoral neck fractures, focusing on those who developed DVT or PE postoperatively. Surgical intervention aimed within 48 hours without pharmacological thromboprophylaxis, utilizing mechanical prophylaxis instead.
Introduction: Patients facing post-traumatic malunion or congenital hand differences often contend with functional and cosmetic issues. Traditional correction methods involve open osteotomy, marked by drawbacks like scarring, non-union risks, prolonged rehabilitation, and adhesions. We therefore introduce a novel minimally invasive technique called Minimally Invasive Corrective Osteotomy of the Hand (MICO), which can be performed under local anesthesia.

Introduction: Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS) was developed as a uniform and generalizable PROM system using item response theory and computer adaptive testing. We aimed to assess the utilization of PROMIS for clinically significant outcomes (CSOs) measurements and provide insights into its use in orthopaedic research.
Materials And Methods: We reviewed PROMIS CSO reports for orthopaedic procedures via PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL, and Web of Science from inception to 2022, excluding abstracts and missing measurements.
Background: Up to one-third of Lisfranc injuries (an injury affecting the normal stability, alignment, and congruency of the tarsometatarsal joints) are misdiagnosed. Delayed diagnosis and improper treatment may lead to long-term, irreversible sequela and functional disability. Recently, the employment of three-dimensional (3D) CT demonstrated higher diagnostic reliability, but there is limited evidence on this, and radiologic features of Lisfranc injuries when using this diagnostic modality are not well described.

The objective of this study was to create a classification of the anatomical deformities of first-ray ulcers that could lead to better standardization of treatment and reporting.
Methods: The authors performed a file review of patients with diabetic neuropathy diagnosed with first-ray ulcers over a period of 3 years in an outpatient setting.

Minimally invasive floating metatarsal osteotomy is an option for treating neuropathic ulcers under the metatarsal heads. This study presents the radiographic results of the floating metatarsal osteotomy. We reviewed files and radiographs at least 4 months after a floating metatarsal osteotomy in patients with diabetic neuropathy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: To evaluate the intra/inter observer and diagnostic reliability of 3-dimensional (3D) model reconstruction computed tomography (CT) compared to the traditional two-dimensional (2D) CT when evaluating Lisfranc (LF) injuries.
Methods: A retrospective study was performed on CT studies of patients with clinically suspected LF injuries examined in the emergency department at medium size medical center. Each CT study was evaluated for metatarsal fractures and subluxations employing both standard 2D and 3D CT model reconstruction.
Locked scapula or intrathoracic scapular dislocation is an extremely rare entity encountered in the emergency department, with very few cases reported in literature. Conservative vs surgical approach in treating intrathoracic scapular dislocation is not well defined in literature. In this case report, we present a rare case of intrathoracic scapular dislocation, following multiple ribs resection due to malignant bone tumour, which was treated by closed manipulation reduction technique.

The epidemiology of amputations has recently been used as a possible measure of the adequacy of medical prevention and treatment of diabetes and diabetic foot complications.
Objectives: To report on patients undergoing amputations at one medical center in Israel, their co-morbidities, and the outcomes.
Purpose: To evaluate the intra/inter-rater and diagnostic reliability of the sagittal plane adjusted patellar instability ratios (PIRs) compared to tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance alone while employing a matched case-control analysis for age and sex to minimize a potential confounding effect.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study was performed of all knee MRI studies of patients diagnosed with patellar instability, between 2005 and 2020 at a regional tertiary medical centre. Using a 1:1 case-control matching of sex and age at the time of the diagnosis, one control subject was assigned to each case of patellar instability.
Background: This prospective study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Hebrew version of the forgotten joint score-12 in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, because it is going to be used in the Hebrew-speaking populations in Israel.
Methods: The English version of forgotten joint score-12 was translated into Hebrew version by using the standard procedures and in collaboration with its authors. The consecutive patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty in a single hospital were asked to fill out the Hebrew version of forgotten joint score-12, Oxford knee score, Short Form 12, and visual analog scale.
Background: Foot ulcers are a common complication in diabetic patients. Mild callus formation due to a plantar pressure can lead to an ulcer formation with potentially hazardous sequelae. Eliminating the pressure from the ulcer is essential for a proper healing process.

Methods: We reviewed all MRI reports and images performed between August 1st, 2018 and July 31st, 2019. Lumbar spine pathologies such as disc herniation, lytic spondylolisthesis, and spinal stenosis were recorded.
Novel antimicrobial wound dressings impregnated with copper oxide micro-particles have been cleared for treatment of acute and chronic wounds. Our objective is to provide preliminary data regarding the potential benefit of using these novel wound dressings including in non-infected wounds. Methods involved the treatment of wounds that responded partially or poorly to conventional wound healing treatments with copper oxide impregnated wound dressings in patients with a range of etiologies.

This study's purpose was to examine the effect of minimally invasive floating metatarsal osteotomy on plantar pressure in patients with diabetic metatarsal head ulcers.
Methods: We performed a retrospective case series of prospectively collected data on 32 patients with diabetes complicated by plantar metatarsal head ulcers without ischemia.
Diabetic foot ulcers under the first metatarsal head are difficult to treat and prevent recurrence. The aim of this study is to summarize the results of a distal first metatarsal minimally invasive floating osteotomy for ulcers under the first metatarsal head in patients with diabetic neuropathy. We reviewed files of patients with diabetic neuropathy undergoing a floating first metatarsal osteotomy.

We examine how the technology industry intervenes in social domains not directly tied to its products, services, and immediate commercial concerns. We intend to develop a framework for considering the ways technology and the technology industry reshape these domains in ways both intended and unintended. Drawing on sociologies of knowledge and technology and a set of 20 semi-structured interviews with technology workers and HR professionals working in the Israeli facilities of two large multi-national technology firms, we find evidence that the intervention allows the industry to re-purpose public education as a means of nurturing a firm's workforce with the goal of remaining competitive in a tight labor market both nationally and globally.

However, limited information is available about the relation between gender and scoliosis curve patterns and radiographical characteristics.
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of gender on curve pattern and compare clinical and radiographical characteristics between male and female patients with AIS.
Background: Chronic ulcers pose a significant health concern and economic burden. Numerous products, including animal-derived collagen products, have been designed to provide the injured site with a biocompatible structural matrix that promotes tissue regeneration. Yet, animal-derived collagens can evoke immune responses, bear risk of disease transmission, and fail to closely mimic the function of native collagen.
