A algorithm of the singular value decomposition for three-way array is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is suitable to deal with the actual problems of pattern recognition and classification model with three-way array data. Similar to the algorithm of the singular value decomposition for matrix, the algorithm is obtained by saving the problem of extremum subject to constraint conditions.

However, due to spectral interference, it is difficult to determine the individual components of fluorescent multi-component mixtures in such complicated and important body matrices as blood, urine and feces without any pre-separation. In this study, a simple and rapid approach based on non-linear variable-angle synchronous fluorescence spectrometry coupled with partial least squares analysis (NLVASF/PLS) was developed for the simultaneous determination of protoporphyrin IX (PP), uroporphyrin III (UP) and coproporphyrin III (CP).

In the present article the principle and advantages of the method to build classification model by partial least squares are briefly introduced. The method was applied to deal with the seawater data obtained from the primary polluted sea area of Jiaozhou bay and Laizhou bay by GC-MS. The classification models have been built for seawater samples from different contaminated areas.
