Time to viral load suppression and its predictors among people living with HIV on antiretroviral therapy in Gebi Resu zone, Afar Region, Ethiopia, 2023.

Objective: This study aimed to estimate the time to viral load suppression and identify its predictors among HIV patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in the Gebi Resu zone, Afar Region, Ethiopia, 2023.

Setting: The study was conducted at public health facilities in the Gebi Resu zone of the Afar region.

Study Design: This study is a facility-based, retrospective follow-up study.

Poor self-care practices and contributing factors among adults with type 2 diabetes in Adama, Ethiopia.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a prominent global health challenge, characterized by a rising prevalence and substantial morbidity and mortality, especially evident in developing nations. Although DM can be managed with self-care practices despite its complexity and chronic nature, the persistence of poor self-care exacerbates the disease burden. There is a dearth of evidence on the level of poor self-care practices and contributing factors among patients with DM in the study area.

Purpose: Poor performance of health service providers has a negative impact on the ability of health systems to produce desired outcomes. Lack of suitable and impactful leadership hinders employee performance in terms of providing a high standard of care. Indoor air pollution prevention practices and associated factors among household mothers in Olenchiti town, Oromia, Ethiopia.

Introduction: Most households in low- and middle-income countries still cook using solid fuels in poorly ventilated dwellings. Indoor air pollution causes various health problems, like pneumonia, lung cancer, stillbirth, low birth weight, impaired cognitive development, and cataracts. Nevertheless, a few evidences are available in Africa, including Ethiopia.

Health facilities readiness to provide comprehensive abortion care and factors associated with client satisfaction in Central Oromia Region, Ethiopia: a multilevel modeling approach.

Background: In Ethiopia only 53% of induced abortions were performed in a health facility. Even though efforts have been made to improve comprehensive abortion care (CAC), still several health facilities fail to provide the services. Even in facilities where such care is provided, significant numbers of clients report their dissatisfaction with the service.

Survival Patterns and Predictors of Mortality among COVID-19 Patients Admitted to Treatment Centers in Oromia Region, Ethiopia.

Purpose: To assess survival patterns and predictors of mortality among patients admitted with COVID-19 to treatment centers in the Oromia region of Ethiopia from April 1 to August 31, 2021.

Methods: A prospective cohort study design was employed, taking a sample of 854 patients selected from eight treatment centers in the region. The follow-up duration was the time interval from admission to the treatment center until the final disposition of patients at discharge (death, recovery, or failed to recover).

Focused Family Planning Counseling Increases Immediate Postpartum Intrauterine Contraceptive Device Uptake: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of focused family planning counseling (FFPC) in increasing postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) uptake among mothers who gave birth in the public health facilities of the towns of Adama and Olenchiti from April 1 to May 30, 2017.

Methods: A quasi-experimental study design was employed, taking a sample of 726 postpartum mothers: 484 in the non-intervention group (NIG) and 242 in the intervention group (IG). Focused family planning counseling was given to the IG using a newly designed cue card adapted from World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and developed based on the constructs of the health belief model.
