Neurotrophin regulation of actin-dependent changes in growth cone motility may depend on the signaling of beta-actin mRNA transport. Formation of an RNP complex between the beta-actin mRNA zipcode sequence and Zipcode Binding Protein 1 (ZBP1) was required for its localization to growth cones. Antisense oligonucleotides to the zipcode inhibited formation of this RNP complex in vitro and the neurotrophin-induced localization of beta-actin mRNA and ZBP1 granules.

It acts as a ligand for the selectin proteins during cell adhesion of inflammatory process. Aberrant overexpression of sLeX is also a characteristic of various cancer cells, especially for highly malignant ones.

Experimental verifications are presented for the case of linearly polarized incident light. When the uncoated cube-corner is used in a heterodyne interferometer, the polarization properties reveal that the axial orientation of the corner reflector has an effect on the strength of the beat signal and the nonlinearity error.
