Tailor-made enzymes empower a wide range of versatile applications, although searching for the desirable enzymes often requires high throughput screening and thus poses significant challenges. In this study, we employed homology searches and protein language models to discover and prioritize enzymes by their kinetic parameters. Microorganism-based ecotoxicity assessment has been widely used as a reliable tool showing direct biochemical impacts of contaminants on ecosystems and the environment. The present study aimed at developing a thiosulfate-utilizing denitrifying bacteria (TUDB)-based ecotoxicity test with high detection sensitivity and favorable reproducibility. To achieve this goal, existing TUDB toxicity tests were improved by employing a pure culture of ATCC 8158 and optimizing test conditions, particularly in terms of inoculated microbial biomass, incubating temperature, and operational pH.

Here, we present the outcomes of four patients with COVID-19 who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) at the National Cancer Center in South Korea. Despite concerns about the unfavorable course of COVID-19 in HSCT recipients, none of our patients experienced severe COVID-19. Moreover, extended viral shedding in case 1, lasting over 100 days, was resolved after successful engraftment.

Method: A modular DBT phantom, consisting of tissue-equivalent adipose and glandular modules, along with a module embedded with test objects (speckles, masses, fibers), was used to create combinations simulating different breast thicknesses, densities, and lesion locations. 145 fungal isolates were obtained from three sampling sites situated within the Nam River basin, located in the southern region of South Korea. Through ITS sequence analysis, the fungal isolates were identified to comprise 55 species of ascomycetes and 11 species of basidiomycetes. The 55 species of ascomycetes exclusively belong to the phylum Pezizomycotina, comprising 33 species of Dothideomycetes, 6 species of Eurotiomycetes, and 16 species of Sordariomycetes.
