Objectives: Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is a common vestibular disorder and it may be idiopathic or secondary to some conditions such as surgery, but rare following laparoscopic surgery.

Methods: We report two cases of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo secondary to laparoscopic surgery, one after laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a 51-year-old man and another following laparoscopic hysterectomy in a 60-year-old woman.

Results: Both patients were treated successfully with manual or device-assisted canalith repositioning maneuvers, with no recurrence on the follow-up of 6 -18 months.

Objective: To evaluate the expressions of interleukin (IL) 13 and its receptor IL-13Rα2 in eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ECRSwNP) and non-ECRSwNP and their clinicopathological implications.

Methods: A total of 60 consecutive patients with CRSwNP who underwent endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) were divided into two groups of ECRSwNP (n = 27) and non-ECRSwNP (n = 33) based on tissue eosinophil count (more than five cells per high power field) with postoperative pathological examination. Before ESS,the severities of symptoms, nasal polyps, and sinonasal diseases on CT were scored, peripheral blood eosinophil count and percentage, and total serum.

Objective: To evaluate the short-term efficacy of computer-controlled and modified roll maneuver (CMRM) versus conventional roll maneuver (RM) for treatment of geotropic lateral canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).

Study Design: Prospective case-controlled study.

Setting: Academic hospital.

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common disease worldwide, with a prevalence rate of 5%-15% in the general population. CRS is currently classified into two types: CRS with and without nasal polyps. CRS may also be divided into eosinophilic CRS (ECRS) and non-ECRS subtypes based on the presence of tissue eosinophilic infiltration or not.

Objectives/hypothesis: To evaluate the short-term efficacy of the computer-controlled canalith repositioning procedure (CRP) for treatment of posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) compared with the current standard CRP.

Study Design: Prospective case series.

Methods: One hundred thirty-two patients diagnosed as having idiopathic posterior canal BPPV, with an age range of 28 to 86 years (mean 56 years), 47 men and 85 women, were treated with computer-controlled CRP mimicking the Epley maneuver.

Endogenous electric fields (EFs) have been detected at wounds and damaged tissues. The potential roles of EFs in tissue repair and regeneration have been an intriguing topic for centuries. Recent researches have provided significant insights into how naturally occurring EFs may participate in the control of tissue repair and regeneration.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of endoscopic ethmoid and maxillary surgery on chronic hypertrophic rhinitis.

Method: A total of 54 cases of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis were treated by endoscopic ethmoid and maxillary surgery between 2003 and 2004, undergoing postoperative follow-up of more than one year. Age of patients ranged from 17 to 60 years, with a mean of 35 years.

Background: Lipomas are common benign tumors, but they rarely occur in the retropharyngeal space and even more rarely occur in children.

Case Report: We report the case of an 11-year-old girl with a 5-year history of progressively worsening nasal obstruction, snoring, and excessive daytime sleepiness. Physical examination revealed a child with a body mass index of 16.

Objective: To explore the clinic characteristic, diagnosis and treatment of ectopic thyroid gland (ETG) and avoid the misdiagnosis and mistherapy of ETG.

Method: The clinic materials of 4 cases with ETG were analysed. Four patients were misdiagnosed thyroglossal duct cyst.

Cataract is the most common cause of blindness but is at least curable by surgery. Unfortunately, many patients gradually develop the complication of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) or secondary cataract. This arises from stimulated cell growth within the lens capsule and can greatly impair vision.

Controlling angiogenesis is crucial. Growth factors and cytokines are key regulators but a full understanding remains elusive. Endogenous electrical potential differences exist within and around the vasculature, both in relation to blood flow and in situations where active angiogenesis occurs, such as wound healing, development and tumor growth.
