Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a clinical syndrome characterized by diffuse alveolar and interstitial edema caused by damage to alveolar-capillary and epithelial cells, often induced by infection, sepsis, trauma, and other factors. It is marked by progressive hypoxemia and respiratory distress. Due to the diverse causes of ARDS, the unclear pathogenesis, and the absence of effective predictive markers or biomarkers, there are no effective treatment measures available, resulting in a high mortality rate.
