Mitochondria-induced cell death is a vital mechanism of heart failure (HF). Thus, identification of mitochondria-related genes (Mito-RGs) based on transcriptome sequencing data of HF might provide novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets for HF. First, bioinformatics analysis was conducted on the GSE57338, GSE76701, GSE136547, and GSE77399 datasets in the Gene Expression Omnibus.

Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) is used to promote blood circulation and is widely used in Chinese clinical practice for the treatment and prevention of ischemic cerebral vascular diseases. However, the mechanism and active compounds of BYHWD used to treat ischemic stroke are not well understood. The current study aimed to identify the potential active components of BYHWD and explore its mechanism using network pharmacology and bioinformatics analyses.

Background: Compound danshen dripping pills (CDDP) and trimetazidine (TMZ) are commonly used in the treatment of unstable angina pectoris (UAP). Currently, the combination of CDDP and TMZ has been widely used for UAP. However, the clinical evidence CDDP combined with TMZ for treating UAP is not sufficient.

Hyperglycemia-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation contributes to development of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). This study was designed to determine the effect of an antioxidant butin (BUT) on ischemia/reperfusion-induced myocardial injury in diabetic mice. Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) was induced in C57/BL6J diabetes mice.

In this study, a novel adamantyl nitroxide derivative was synthesized and its antitumor activities in vitro and in vivo were investigated. The adamantyl nitroxide derivative 4 displayed a potent anticancer activity against all the tested human hepatoma cells, especially with IC50 of 68.1 μM in Bel-7404 cells, compared to the positive control 5-FU (IC50=607.

Hyperglycemia-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and Ca(2+) overload contribute to the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy. In this study, we aimed to study the protective effects of Chikusetsu saponin IVa (CHS) from Aralia taibaiensis against hyperglycemia-induced myocardial injuries. Treatment of H9c2 cells with high glucose (HG) for 24 h resulted in a loss of cell viability and increase of ROS, LDH and Ca(2+) levels, and also induced cell apoptosis, and those changes were all markedly reversed by the administration of CHS.

The present study aimed to determine the protective effects and the underlying mechanisms of astragalin (AG) on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic inflammation in a mouse model of allergic asthma. Our study demonstrated that AG inhibited OVA-induced increases in eosinophil count; IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, and IgE were recovered in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and increased IFN-γ level in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Histological studies demonstrated that AG substantially inhibited OVA-induced eosinophilia in lung tissue.
