Article Synopsis
  • Sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapies are both effective for treating house dust mite allergies, but limited comparative studies exist to evaluate their long-term effectiveness.
  • In a study involving 193 allergy patients, researchers treated them with either subcutaneous or sublingual immunotherapy for three years and followed their progress for another three years after treatment ended.
  • The results showed that subcutaneous therapy led to significantly better improvement in allergy symptoms than sublingual therapy, suggesting it may be the preferred option for managing perennial allergic rhinitis, although sublingual therapy remains a valid choice for patients who prefer it.
