Botanical Origin Influence on Some Honey Physicochemical Characteristics and Antioxidant Properties.

Five types of honey (multifloral, sunflower, linden, rapeseed, and acacia), from Southern Romania, were classified using chemometrics methods coupled with IR spectroscopy. The botanical origin's effect on the physicochemical characteristics of honey was studied to highlight the most valuable plant source of honey. Except for antioxidant activity, the moisture, ash, electrical conductivity (EC), pH, free acidity (FA), total sugar content (TSC), hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), total phenolic (TPC), tannin (TTC), and flavonoid content (TFC) were significantly influenced by the botanical origin of the honey.

Primary peritoneal tuberculosis, a forgotten localization. Case report.

We present a case report of a young nulliparous woman that presented with progressive ascites, night sweats and weight loss. Clinical and para-clinical findings were not suggestive of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) or other peritoneal conditions. A laparoscopy revealed important ascites and granulomatous peritoneal infiltration with normal genital anatomy.

Lymph node tuberculosis - an attempt of clinico-morphological study and review of the literature.

Aim: The authors assessed the mycobacterial lesions in the lymph nodes discovered on tissue samples coming from the surgical stage in the Department of Pathology, Emergency County Hospital of Craiova, Romania, starting from 1990 until 2012.

Materials And Methods: The studied material consisted of lymph node (LN) tissue samples obtained by biopsy or surgical excision from 362 patients histopathologically diagnosed with tuberculosis. For confirming the diagnosis, Ziehl-Neelsen staining was carried out and, in some cases, PCR technique was used.

Sentinel lymph node study in colorectal cancer using serial sectioning and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining: importance and limitations.

The lymph node involvement represents an important predictor for survival in colorectal cancer; consequently, the best pathologic evaluation is necessary in order to adequately assess the lymph node status. This study aims to evaluate the impact of sentinel lymph node technique in colorectal cancer in lymphatic basin staging. The study included 43 consecutive operated cases, in which the identification of sentinel lymph node was performed during surgery (in vivo procedure - colon cancer) or immediately after the removal of the resection specimen (ex vivo procedure - rectal cancer).
