Encapsulating peptide-stabilized gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) with thiolated hyaluronic acid (HA-SH) and selectively adding cysteine to the peptide sequence increased their photoluminescence. We found that peptide compositions with cysteine in the middle emitted the most. RCR-stabilized AuNCs can be purified using size-exclusion chromatography to characterize their optical characteristics, chemical composition, and possible structure.

Due to the clinical similarities between pulmonary embolism (PE) and myocardial infarction (MI), physicians often encounter challenges in promptly distinguishing between them, potentially missing the critical window for the correct emergency response. This paper presents a biosensor, termed the PEMI biosensor, which is designed for the identification and quantitative detection of pulmonary embolism or myocardial infarction. The effect of confining ionic liquids (ILs) such as 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [CCIm][BF] or 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [CCIm][BF] in silica matrices was investigated by high-pressure IR spectroscopy. The samples were prepared via the sol-gel method, and the pressure-dependent changes in the C-H absorption bands were investigated. No appreciable changes were observed in the spectral features when the ILs were confined in silica matrices under ambient pressure.
