Objective: To investigate the relationship between thyroid function status and bone mineral density (BMD) among women with postmenopausal osteoporosis.
Methods: A retrospective study was performed among 1217 women aged 45-80years who attended the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey, between August 1, 2009, and June 1, 2013. Eligible participants were grouped according to the presence or absence of osteoporosis as defined by BMD measurements at the lumbar vertebrae (L1-L4), femoral neck, or trochanter of the femur.
[Purpose] The aim of this study was to translate the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire, adapt it for use with Turkish subjects and determine its reliability and validity. [Subjects and Methods] The Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire was translated into Turkish and administered twice at 7-14-day intervals to pregnant women to assess the test-retest reliability. Cronbach's α was used for internal consistency, and the inter-rater correlation coefficient was used to calculate the test-retest reliability.

Study Design: 200 patients were included in the study. The patients were designed into four groups as follows; Group 1: PCOS patients that received OCP containing 30 mcg ethinyl estradiol (EE) plus 3mg drospirenone for 3 months (DRP n=50); Group 2: PCOS patients that received no medication (n=50); Group 3: Healthy controls that received OCP (EE plus DRP) (n=50); Group 4: healthy controls that received no medication (n=50).
Purpose: This study aimed at evaluating the pregnancy outcomes of IVF triplets which are spontaneously or electively reduced to twins and to compare them with non-reduced triplets and twins.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of trichorionic triplets and dichorionic twins of IVF pregnancies.
Results: Preeclampsia rate was significantly higher in triplet group (p = 0.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between serum main minerals and postmenopausal osteoporosis.
Study Design: A total of 728 postmenopausal women were included in this study. Women were separated into two groups according to presence or absence of osteoporosis (OP).
Objective: To investigate the potential neuroprotective effect of maternal pentoxifylline (PNTX) treatment in endotoxin-induced periventricular leukomalasia (PVL) in the developing rat brain.
Method: Intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide was administered on two of three Wistar pregnant rats to establish PVL. To obtain PNTX-treated group, one of the two dams were injected with PNTX.
Objectives: This study investigated the effects of parity and age at first pregnancy and breast-feeding, as well as duration of BF for total and per child on postmenopausal osteoporosis.
Study Design: The study was conducted among 542 cases who were divided based on the presence or absence of osteoporosis. Patients were separated according to their first pregnancy and breast-feeding age as before or after 27 years.
Aim: To evaluate the significance of the cord blood ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) level as a diagnostic marker for perinatal asphyxia and to determine the associations of IMA levels with the complexity of pregnancy and abnormal Doppler findings, regardless of perinatal asphyxia.
Methods: This prospective study included 169 newborns, sixteen of whom had perinatal asphyxia and 33 who were from complicated pregnancies. Doppler measurements were obtained from the uterine, umbilical and middle cerebral arteries, and the cerebro/placental ratio (C/P).
Background: Acute appendicitis with appendicial endometriosis is a very infrequently encountered condition during pregnancy. Decidualization is the hypertrophy of endometrial stromal cells by the effect of progesterone. Similarly, in pregnancy, ectopic stromal endometrial cells in endometriosis can also be transformed by the same mechanism and ectopic decidua (deciduosis) may occur.

Design: Prospective study.
Setting: University hospital.
Objective: To evaluate neonatal outcomes among a homogeneous group of fetuses with severe hydrops treated with intrauterine transfusion (IUT).
Methods: In a prospective study at Dokuz Eylul University School of Medicine, Izmir, Turkey, outcomes were compared for 35 IUTs carried out between 2005 and 2010 in 19 pregnancies that were complicated by Rhesus D hemolytic disease with severely hydropic fetuses.
Results: There was no correlation between the number of IUTs and the duration of phototherapy or number of exchange transfusions.
Objective: To evaluate the prognostic value of tumor budding (TB) in endometrioid (EEC) and non-endometrioid endometrial cancers (NEEC) and to determine its correlation with expression of E-cadherin.
Methods: Ninety-five patients with primary endometrial carcinoma were examined statistically. All patients were diagnosed, treated, and given follow-up care at Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine.
Objective: To determine matrix metalloproteinase-2 and survivin expressions in endometrial cancers, their relation to clinical and histologic parameters and to investigate any difference in the expression of these markers between endometrioid and nonendometrioid cancers.
Methods: Ninety-five patients with endometrial cancer, were included. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 and survivin expressions were analyzed immunohistochemically from paraffin-embedded tissues by using specific monoclonal antibodies.
Objective: To evaluate follicle loss in ovarian tissue after laparoscopic excision by the stripping technique in endometriomas versus benign nonendometriotic ovarian cysts.
Methods: Cystectomy samples obtained from 127 ovaries from 104 patients (mean age, 29.05 ± 05 years; range, 19-40 years) by laparoscopic excision (61 endometriomas and 66 benign nonendometriotic cysts) were evaluated for follicle loss.
