Grit and academic resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grit, a non-cognitive skill that indicates perseverance and passion for long-term goals, has been shown to predict academic achievement. This paper provides evidence that grit also predicts student outcomes during the challenging period of the Covid-19 pandemic. We use a unique dataset from a digital learning platform in the United Arab Emirates to construct a behavioral measure of grit.

Do Twitter sentiments really effective on energy stocks? Evidence from the intercompany dependency.

The study aims to examine the effects of social media activities on stock prices of the energy sector. In this respect, the sample covers the monthly period from 2015m6 to 2020m5 has been observed. Energy stocks as S&P 500 index (SP), stock market volatility index (VIX), trade-weighted USD index (USD), and Brent oil prices (OIL) have been used as independent variables.

Conformable fractional Dirac system on time scales.

We study the conformable fractional (CF) Dirac system with separated boundary conditions on an arbitrary time scale [Formula: see text]. Then we extend some basic spectral properties of the classical Dirac system to the CF case. Eventually, some asymptotic estimates for the eigenfunction of the CF Dirac eigenvalue problem are obtained on [Formula: see text].

Evaluation of serum uric acid levels in psoriasis vulgaris.

Background/aim: Psoriasis has been accepted as a systemic disease and it is known to be associated with various disorders including metabolic syndrome. High serum uric acid levels are also associated with the components of metabolic syndrome. In this study, we aimed to determine serum uric acid levels in patients with psoriasis and the association of uric acid levels with disease activity by taking the presence of metabolic syndrome criteria into account, since it is one of the most important factors that affect serum uric acid levels.

Contact sensitisation in patients with chronic leg ulcers.

The aim of our study is to identify the allergens in patients with leg ulcers who have contact dermatitis surrounding the skin of the ulcer and compare them with a control group consisting of patients with lower extremity contact dermatitis. A total of 40 patients with chronic leg ulcers (CLU) and contact dermatitis around the skin of ulcer were included in the study. As a control group, 20 patients with contact dermatitis of lower extremity without leg ulcers were included.
