Complications and management strategies of totally implantable venous access port insertion through percutaneous subclavian vein.

- The study examined the clinical characteristics and outcomes of 2,084 totally implantable venous access ports inserted in 2,000 cancer patients using a percutaneous subclavian vein approach.
- The majority of patients were female with breast cancer or male with colon cancer, and the procedure had a 98.5% technical success rate with relatively low early (6.9%) and late (5.7%) complication rates.
- Inadvertent arterial puncture was the most common early complication, while infection was the most prevalent late complication, confirming the procedure's safety and effectiveness in cancer treatment.
A 20 year-old woman was admitted to our clinic complaining of dyspnea, cough, chest pain and pleural effusion. The diagnosis of pulmonary hydatid cyst was made on the basis of parasitology laboratory findings, computed tomographic results and chest radiographic findings. A giant pulmonary hydatid cyst (33x14x12 cm) was located in the left lower lobe, which involved more than 90% of the lobe.
