As maxillofacial surgery becomes increasingly digitized and the transformative impact of pre-surgical scanning and computer simulation is recognized, this clinical paper presents an algorithm for the selection of interventions in severe congenital oligodontia with Angle class-III malocclusion (OCIII) utilizing such technologies. A complex, multifactorial condition with varying degrees of craniofacial involvement, OCIII is associated with edentulous facial appearance, mandibular prognathism and deep underbite, as well as malocclusion. Our methodology involves the integration of CBCT imaging, intra- and extra- oral scanning, and 3D planning with the assessment of bone volume, number of missing teeth, skeletal discrepancies, and patient compliance in the selection of suitable treatments.

Despite the clear advantages of high-resolution multiplanar and three-dimensional reconstructions, which facilitate accurate diagnosis and provide intraoperative (IO) real-time visual feedback, CT's main drawbacks remain availability, cost, and high radiation exposure. The decision to perform a CT scan is based on the integration of the patient's trauma mechanism, clinical examination, subjective judgment of the CMF surgeon, and the complexity of the surgery if used IO.

Background: Facial asymmetry includes several etiologies, among them trauma to the condylar area during early childhood and congenital malformations such as hemifacial microsomia. This article describes the management of facial asymmetry in adolescents and young adults using a mandible first approach by distraction osteogenesis, followed by maxillary Le-Fort I as a second stage.
Methods: Eighteen patients 14-25 years of age presented with unilateral hypoplasia of the jaws which manifested clinically by deviation of the chin and canting of the occlusal plane.

Unlabelled: We aimed to compare the clinical and histological secondary healing effectiveness of various types of high-level laser versus scalpel excision in mucosa frenectomy.
Methods: Forty-five Sprague Dawley rats were used in this study. These rats were divided into two laser intervention groups (CO, n = 15; diode, n = 15) and one control group with scalpel excision (n = 15).

Background: The effect of improvement in prenatal identification of cleft lip or palate (CL/P) on termination of pregnancy (TOP) worldwide is scarcely reported. Our aim was to assess changes in the prevalence of cleft palate attributed to the high access and availability of prenatal advanced screening and pregnancy termination in Israel.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on CL/P patients which were treated in our institute and born between January 2000 and December 2018.
Point-of-care-ultrasound (PoCUS) is performed by the clinician at the patient's bedside and is an essential diagnostic tool in many medical subspecialties, in hospital-based care, emergencies, trauma, and in general practice. A simple, novel approach for implementation of PoCUS of the oral cavity and maxillofacial complex is introduced. Relevant indications include differentiating abscess from cellulitis, detecting jaw and facial fractures, assessment of surgical complications, removing foreign bodies, and evaluating soft tissue masses.

Background: Transverse maxillomandibular discrepancies are widespread. Treatment is comprised of orthodontic expansion in patients younger than 15 years or by surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion (SARPE) in skeletally mature patients where the possibility of successful orthodontic maxillary expansion decreases as sutures close and resistance to mechanical forces increases.
