Pulmonary embolism is a common cause of morbidity and mortality. Numerous risk factors have been identified that predispose patients to this disease. This study aims to identify these risk factors and the possible outcomes (recovery or mortality) after receiving treatment from any hospital.

Critical care survivors with lung involvement in SLE are at particularly high risk for unplanned hospital readmissions, which can reflect the complexity of their disease, which often affects multiple organs and requires immunosuppressive therapy that increases infection risk. Severe pulmonary complications, critical illness sequelae, and challenges in medication adherence or follow-up care further contribute to their vulnerability.

This study assessed hospitalization rates and outcomes, including patient characteristics, mortality risks, and healthcare costs associated with TOS hospitalizations. Methods We analyzed elective and nonelective hospitalization data for TOS between 2010 and 2021 from the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) and National Readmission Databases (NEDS) and classified the data into neurogenic, venous, and arterial subtypes using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) diagnostic and procedural codes.

It is often inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. Symptoms include dyspnea, fatigue, palpitations, dizziness, syncope, and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD).

Cardiotoxicity, a critical adverse effect of cancer treatments such as doxorubicin, trastuzumab, and radiotherapy, poses substantial challenges. This systematic review synthesizes findings from studies on cardiotoxicity induced by cancer therapies, focusing on detection and management.

This systematic review aimed to synthesize information regarding the role of ventricular assist devices (VADs) in managing HF patients due to DCM. A comprehensive search was conducted across PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases for studies published between 2014 and 2024.

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health recommended 3 multimonth dispensing (3MMD) of ART to all people living with HIV, including children. This study assesses the association between 3 MMD and clinical outcomes among children in Western Kenya.

The objective of this study was to assess completion of EAC sessions and factors associated with viral re-suppression amongst adolescents and young persons (AYPs) with persistent viremia in Western Kenya.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of routinely collected data abstracted from viral load registers was done.
Background: Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are a source of concern in healthcare as they negatively affect patients. Serious adverse drug reactions (SADRs) have an even greater impact on patients and the system in terms of morbidity and financial burden. The establishment of National Pharmacovigilance Centers (NPCs) has enhanced ADR reporting in Africa.

Standard microbiological methods were adopted for the analysis. The results showed a relatively high incidence in soil and water which are speculated to be reservoirs of the organism.
