Follicular lymphoma (FL) is the most common low-grade lymphoma. Despite its indolent nature, FL carries an inherent risk of histological transformation (HT) to a more aggressive lymphoma. Existing biomarkers are insufficient to predict HT, indicating the need for more robust biological predictors.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFollicular lymphoma (FL) is characterized by an indolent nature and generally favorable prognosis, yet poses a particular clinical challenge, since disease progression is observed in a notable subset of patients. Currently, it is not possible to anticipate which patients will be at risk of progression, highlighting the need for reliable predictive biomarkers that can be detected early in the disease. We applied tandem-mass-tag labelled nano-liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (nLC-MS/MS) on 48 diagnostic formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor samples from patients with advanced-stage FL.

Beyond the direct toxicity, plastic pollution has the potential to absorb biological toxins and invasive microbial species. To better understand the capability of environmental plastic debris to adsorb these species, we investigated the binding of the model protein bovine serum albumin (BSA) to polyethylene (PE) films at various stages of photodegradation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFollicular lymphoma (FL) is an indolent lymphoma with a generally favorable prognosis. However, histological transformation (HT) to a more aggressive disease leads to markedly inferior outcomes. This study aims to identify biological differences predictive of HT at the time of initial FL diagnosis.

To explore this, we have prepared triangular architectures of three rhodamines connected to a central triethynylbenzene unit (1,3,5-tris(buta-1,3-diyn-1-yl)benzene) based on acetylenic coupling reactions and measured fluorescence spectra of the isolated, triply charged ions in vacuo. We find from comparisons with previously reported monomer and dimer spectra that while polarization of the π-system causes redshifted emission, the separation between the rhodamines is too large for a Stark shift.

LUNA2 is, as an earlier room-temperature setup (LUNA), optimized for a high collection efficiency of photons and includes improvements based on our operational experience with LUNA. The fluorescence cell is a cylindrical Paul trap made of copper with a hole in the ring electrode to permit laser light to interact with the trapped ions, and one end-cap electrode is a mesh grid combined with an aspheric condenser lens.

In order to improve our understanding of the outcomes of patient-specific instrumentation, we conducted a meta-analysis. Patients and methods - We identified randomized and quasi-randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing patient-specific and conventional instrumentation in TKA.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBioimpedance analysis (BIA) is a well-known and tested method for body mass and muscular health assessment. Multi-frequency BIA (mfBIA) equipment now makes it possible to assess a particular muscle as a whole, as well as looking at a muscle at the fiber level. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that mfBIA can be used to assess the anatomical, physiological, and metabolic state of skeletal muscles.
