The study investigates the effects of naphthoquinones, specifically juglone and curcumin, on cell viability and gene expression in two human breast cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231.
Both compounds were tested at various concentrations over a 24-hour period, with results measured using qPCR and western blot techniques.
The findings indicated that curcumin and juglone reduced the expression of the CYP3A4 and MTATP6 genes in both cell lines, with curcumin also displaying anti-proliferative and antioxidant properties.
