Patient-reported outcomes (PRO) after lung cancer surgery are of increasing interest to patients and clinicians. A variety of studies have investigated the impact of the surgical approach on quality of life (QOL) after surgery for early non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Our aim is to review the current evidence on how minimally-invasive approaches, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS), versus open thoracotomy for lung cancer affect QOL.

Background: Little is known about patients' hospital experience and satisfaction after lung cancer surgery. We sought to determine how length of hospital stay (LOS) and postoperative complications affect hospital consumer assessment of health care providers and systems (HCAHPS) scores.

Methods: Patients undergoing lung resection for cancer at a single academic cancer center between years 2014 and 2018 were analyzed.

Background: Enhanced recovery pathways (ERPs) have been shown to improve patient outcomes in a variety of contexts. This review summarizes the evidence and defines a protocol for perioperative care of patients with hip fracture and was conducted for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality safety program for improving surgical care and recovery.

Study Design: Perioperative care was divided into components or "bins.

Background: Use of enhanced recovery pathways (ERPs) can improve patient outcomes, yet national implementation of these pathways remains low. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ; funder), the American College of Surgeons, and the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patent Safety and Quality have developed the Safety Program for Improving Surgical Care and Recovery-a national effort to catalyze implementation of practices to improve perioperative care and enhance recovery of surgical patients. This review synthesizes evidence that can be used to develop a protocol for elective total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Background: Endocrine surgery continues to mature as a subspecialty field. We describe the clinical performance of an academic endocrine surgery program (ESP) over its first 10 years.

Methods: We examined all endocrine procedures performed during the 10-year period (2006-2015) following the inception of the ESP.
