Article Synopsis
  • Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is a contagious disease affecting pigs, impacting East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia since 1997, but little is known about its prevalence and distribution in the region.
  • A 2010 survey collected data from 2160 pigs and 805 farmers across four islands, revealing a 17.5% overall seroprevalence of CSFV, with significant variations by location.
  • Factors such as older age and vaccination increased the likelihood of pigs testing positive for CSFV antibodies, but most data variation was due to random effects rather than specific pig characteristics, highlighting the need for further research, especially regarding the absence of clinical cases in certain areas.
